Product Description

Bold Depth: Nature’s Choice Espresso Oak

If you are looking to ground your home with a floor that radiates strength, tradition, and an unmistakable sense of luxury, the Nature’s Choice Espresso Oak from Egger is a compelling choice. This floor is the definition of “moody and magnificent,” featuring a deep, dark espresso tone that serves as a high-contrast anchor for modern and classic interiors alike. At Floorstore Direct, we are proud to be the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring, pairing premium German engineering with local expertise.

Previously known to many as Parquet Oak Dark, this decor has been reimagined under the Nature’s Choice banner. It retains the same beloved vintage style, characterized by rich chocolatey grains and realistic rustic cracks that mimic the story of aged timber. As a standout in the Egger flooring range, it features an Omnipore surface structure, which provides a natural wood-pore finish that looks and feels authentic to the touch.

Engineered for Ireland: 8mm AC4 Water-Resistant Protection

Irish homes demand flooring that can handle the grit of the outdoors and the occasional kitchen mishap. The Espresso Oak is designed to be as “life-proof” as it is beautiful.

  • Water Resistant Surface: This floor is built to withstand everyday spills and splashes. While it brings the look of dark solid wood, it offers a level of moisture resistance that makes it a practical choice for kitchens, hallways, and even bathrooms when installed correctly.
  • AC4 Durability Rating: Certified for heavy residential use, this 8mm laminate is engineered to resist scratches from active pets, high heels, and the constant movement of furniture in a busy household.
  • CLIC it! System: Featuring Egger’s innovative installation system, the Espresso Oak offers a fast, glueless, and secure fit. The tight click-lock joints further protect the core against moisture ingress, ensuring your floor stays stable and gap-free.

Ask a Question

1. Is "Espresso Oak" the exact same colour as the old "Parquet Oak Dark"? Yes. While the name has transitioned to Espresso Oak within the Nature’s Choice collection, the decor and visual character remain the same. If you are trying to match an existing floor previously known as Parquet Oak Dark, this is the perfect replacement or continuation.

2. Does a dark floor like Espresso Oak show more dust than a light oak? Darker floors can highlight light-coloured dust or pet hair more than a mid-toned floor. However, the Omnipore rustic texture and the varied grain of the Espresso Oak are actually quite forgiving. A quick sweep or a damp microfibre mop is all it takes to keep the rich, dark tones looking pristine.

3. Can I install this floor in a bathroom? Because the Nature’s Choice range is water-resistant, it can be installed in bathrooms. However, for maximum peace of mind in high-moisture areas, we always recommend sealing the perimeter with a silicone-based sealant and ensuring spills are wiped up promptly. Its AC4 rating also makes it much more durable against the humidity and traffic of a family bathroom compared to standard wood.

Recommended Underlay

The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Egger laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
