Product Description

Scandinavian Sophistication: Van Gogh Herringbone Texas White Ash

If you are looking to breathe new life into a dark or cramped room, Van Gogh Herringbone Texas White Ash from Karndean is the ultimate design tool. This 6.5mm thick LVT captures the crisp, clean aesthetic of Nordic design, featuring a pale, almost silvery-white ash grain that reflects natural light beautifully. By arranging these luminous planks in a classic herringbone pattern, you create an architectural statement that makes any Irish home feel expansive, airy, and undeniably high-end.

The Superior Stability of SPC Floors for Irish Living

In Ireland, our floors face a unique set of challenges—from damp Atlantic air to the fluctuating temperatures of a sun-drenched conservatory. Texas White Ash is a high-performance SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) floor, featuring Karndean’s proprietary K-Core® technology. This rigid core construction ensures the planks remain dimensionally stable, meaning they won’t warp, swell, or “peak” even when exposed to the humidity of a bathroom or kitchen.

As a 100% waterproof floor, it allows you to enjoy the prestige of herringbone floors in areas where real timber would fail. While many homeowners compare this range to Coretec flooring, the Van Gogh collection is uniquely celebrated for its 5G® click-locking system. This allows for a rapid, secure “drop-and-lock” installation, making the intricate herringbone layout accessible and cost-effective for every Irish renovation.

Acoustic Peace with Integrated Rubber Underlay

One of the most innovative features of the Van Gogh range is the pre-attached acoustic rubber underlay. This integrated layer is a massive advantage for modern living:

  • Exceptional Sound Reduction: It reduces noise transfer to rooms below by 21dB—ideal for apartments or upstairs bedrooms.
  • Thermal Comfort: Unlike real wood or stone, the rubber backing acts as a thermal barrier, keeping the floor feeling snug and comfortable on chilly winter mornings.
  • Effortless Installation: The rigid core allows for installation directly over most existing hard floors, such as ceramic tiles or floorboards, significantly reducing subfloor preparation time and mess.

Ask a Question

1. Does the "Texas White" colour show up dirt more than darker herringbone patterns? Actually, the multi-tonal grain of Texas White Ash is incredibly forgiving. Its matte finish and subtle ash texture are excellent at diffusing light and masking light dust or dried water spots. Unlike solid-coloured white tiles, this natural wood-effect keeps your room looking fresh for longer between cleans.

2. How much "wastage" should I order for a herringbone layout? Due to the geometric nature of the herringbone pattern and the extra cuts required at the room's perimeter, we recommend allowing for 10% to 15% wastage. This ensures you have enough material to maintain the perfect symmetry of the pattern from wall to wall.

3. Is the rubber underlay compatible with underfloor heating? Yes. Texas White Ash Herringbone is fully compatible with most water-based underfloor heating systems (up to 27°C). The combination of the dense SPC core and the integrated rubber backing allows heat to transfer efficiently and evenly across the floor, ensuring your home stays cosy all year round.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Van Gogh by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
