1. Does the light "Metro Grey" colour show up water marks in a bathroom? Metro Grey is specifically designed with a subtle, dappled texture that mimics natural stone. This matte finish is exceptionally good at diffusing light, which helps to mask dried water spots and light limescale marks that are common in Irish "hard water" areas, making it much lower maintenance than a solid dark tile.
2. Is Metro Grey "too thin" at 6.5mm compared to 8mm SPC floors? Thickness is not always a measure of quality. While some Coretec flooring options are thicker, the 6.5mm Van Gogh is engineered for maximum density. The K-Core® rigid centre provides immense strength and impact resistance, ensuring it won't indent under heavy furniture, while the slimmer profile makes it easier to fit under existing internal doors.
3. Can I install Metro Grey over my existing underfloor heating? Yes, Metro Grey is fully compatible with most water-based underfloor heating systems (up to 27°C). Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Van Gogh by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
