1. Does the "Urban Grey" mid-tone colour show "dust-bunny" accumulation more than lighter tiles? Urban Grey is widely considered the "Goldilocks" of grey flooring. Because it is a mid-tone rather than a very dark or very light grey,it is incredibly effective at masking light dust, pet hair, and dried water spots. Its subtle, stone-textured finish diffuses light naturally, making it a fantastic low-maintenance choice for high-traffic Irish hallways.
2. Can I install Urban Grey over my existing bathroom tiles? Yes. Thanks to the K-Core® rigid technology and the 6.5mm thickness, Urban Grey is designed to bridge minor grout lines and imperfections in existing hard floors. This allows you to achieve a modern stone look without the cost and mess of ripping out old ceramic tiles, provided the existing floor is flat and well-bonded.
3. Is the integrated rubber underlay better than cork for underfloor heating? The rubber underlay on Van Gogh Urban Grey is highly efficient at transferring heat. It is fully compatible with most water-based underfloor heating systems (up to 27°C). While cork is also a great insulator, the rubber backing on this Karndean range provides an excellent balance of thermal conductivity and acoustic dampening, ensuring your floor feels luxuriously warm in the winter.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Van Gogh range from Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
