Ridge Oak herringbone is a stunning, rich 14mm engineered board which has been prefinished in a UV matt lacquer to give a more natural look and feel, similar to that of an oiled floor. It has a Character/Rustic grade which means that it has a medium colour variation and beautiful large knots. The herringbone pattern gives you that elegant style, and its versatility means that it can be used in both modern or rustic settings. This floor has a brushed surface which gives the floor an added texture and a more natural appearance. The planks are 90mm wide, tongue & groove and come in 450mm fixed lengths. Ridge Oak Herringbone has also been smoked to give it a darker appearance. This floor also comes in a matching straight plank.

Product Description

Timeless, luxurious, and full of natural charm, Mountain Herringbone Ridge Oak is a stunning engineered herringbone floor that combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s number one destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this 18mm oak herringbone is finished with a smoked, planed, brushed, and matt lacquered surface, offering exceptional texture, tone, and durability. Perfect for creating an elegant and character-filled interior, it’s a floor that tells a story in every plank.

Each block of Mountain Herringbone Ridge Oak is a masterpiece of natural artistry. The wood is smoked to deepen its tone, enhancing the grain with rich shades of caramel, bronze, and soft brown while adding warmth and depth to the oak’s natural character. The planed and brushed finish brings a handcrafted feel, revealing the unique textures of the wood and giving it an aged, tactile charm. Sealed with a matt lacquer, this surface delivers both beauty and practicality — a smooth, durable finish that protects against everyday wear while preserving the authentic look of untreated oak. The result is a floor that feels organic and refined, perfect for homes that appreciate craftsmanship and timeless style.

The rustic/character grading of this floor embraces the true nature of real oak. You’ll find knots, tonal variation, and traces of sapwood, each adding a layer of personality and depth. These natural features give every floor a unique, lived-in quality that works beautifully in both modern and traditional spaces. Whether installed in a classic Georgian hallway, a contemporary kitchen, or a stylish open-plan living area, Mountain Herringbone Ridge Oak brings warmth, sophistication, and natural balance to any interior.

Constructed with precision and durability in mind, this 14mm multi-layered engineered floor offers superior strength and stability. Unlike solid oak, engineered flooring is designed to resist expansion and contraction caused by temperature and humidity — an essential feature for Ireland’s changing climate. This ensures a long-lasting, secure installation that maintains its stunning appearance year after year.

For best results, Mountain Herringbone Ridge Oak must be glued directly to the subfloor, ensuring a perfectly stable and seamless finish. This method enhances the precision of the herringbone pattern, giving your room a luxurious, architectural feel that instantly elevates your space.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Mountain Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
