Product Description
Step into a world of warmth, depth, and natural sophistication with Monolam Smoked Oak 150mm, a premium engineered wood floor that embodies timeless beauty and exceptional craftsmanship. Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this 18mm oak floor features a stunning smoked, brushed, and matt lacquered finish — a perfect balance of rustic charm and modern refinement.
Every plank of Monolam Smoked Oak 150mm is a masterpiece in itself. The smoking process deepens the natural tone of the oak, bringing forward rich caramel and coffee hues while highlighting the intricate patterns of the grain. This process gives the wood a warm, aged feel that instantly adds depth and sophistication to your space. The surface is then brushed to enhance the natural texture, creating a subtle yet distinctive touch that feels as authentic as it looks. Finally, the matt lacquer finish adds a silky, low-sheen protective layer — keeping the surface smooth, durable, and easy to maintain without losing its organic appeal.
The universal grading of this floor celebrates the full beauty of oak in its purest form. Each plank includes a mix of grades — from cleaner, more refined pieces to those with natural knots, grain variations, and touches of sapwood. This combination creates a floor that feels alive, unique, and bursting with character. The tonal variation ensures every installation tells its own story, bringing warmth and personality into both classic and contemporary interiors. Whether you’re renovating a period home or creating a sleek modern space, Monolam Smoked Oak 150mm offers the perfect foundation for timeless design.
Built to last, this 18mm multi-layered engineered floor provides outstanding stability and performance. Unlike solid wood, engineered flooring is specifically designed to handle Ireland’s fluctuating weather conditions. Its clever layered construction prevents movement and warping, ensuring your floor remains smooth, stable, and beautiful for decades — even with underfloor heating.
When it comes to fitting, Monolam Smoked Oak 150mm offers flexibility. It can be glued directly to the subfloor for a solid, seamless installation or floated using a tongue and groove system for quicker, more versatile fitting. Both options ensure a flawless finish that feels luxurious underfoot and showcases the natural elegance of oak at its best.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive
Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Monolam Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
