Product Description
Chic, timeless, and full of natural charm, Rhode Island Herringbone is the perfect choice for those looking to combine modern elegance with traditional craftsmanship. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s trusted name for engineered floors, herringbone floors, and hardwood flooring, this stunning 14mm oak herringbone floor brings sophistication and character to any interior. With its smoked and white matt lacquer finish, Rhode Island Herringbonedelivers a striking balance of warmth, texture, and contemporary appeal — ideal for stylish homes, boutique interiors, and elegant commercial spaces.
Each block of Rhode Island Herringbone is expertly crafted from premium European oak, ensuring strength, durability, and natural beauty. The smoked finish deepens the wood’s tone, enhancing its rich grain patterns and giving the oak a soft, aged appearance full of depth and personality. The subtle white matt lacquer overlay lightens and softens the smoky base, creating a sophisticated blend of grey and beige tones that complement any décor — from minimalist modern designs to classic heritage settings.
The matt lacquer finish adds a smooth, refined surface that highlights the oak’s natural texture while offering excellent protection against daily wear. This low-sheen finish preserves the authentic look and feel of real wood while creating a durable layer that resists scratches, scuffs, and stains. It’s an ideal choice for busy homes that want the beauty of hardwood flooring with minimal maintenance.
The herringbone pattern has long been a hallmark of luxury and timeless design. Its classic, geometric layout brings movement and visual interest to any room, instantly adding structure and elegance. Whether installed in a grand hallway, an open-plan living area, or a boutique-style bedroom, Rhode Island Herringbone enhances the atmosphere with its refined symmetry and natural variation.
The rustic A/Nature grading celebrates the subtle imperfections that make real wood so captivating. Expect smaller knots, delicate colour shifts, and occasional areas of sapwood, all working together to create a floor that feels natural yet refined. This grading strikes the perfect balance — characterful without being overly rustic, and elegant without appearing uniform.
At 14mm thick, Rhode Island Herringbone is built with a multi-layered engineered construction that provides superior stability and resistance to movement caused by temperature or humidity changes — perfect for Ireland’s climate. It’s also compatible with underfloor heating, ensuring comfort as well as beauty.
For the best results, this engineered herringbone floor must be glued directly to the subfloor. This method provides a solid, secure installation that enhances the acoustic quality and long-term durability of your floor, delivering a professional, high-end finish that lasts for decades.

Recommend Adhesive
Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Stateside Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
