Product Description

Organic Charm: Rustic Textures New Forest Oak LVT

If you are searching for a floor that captures the authentic, raw beauty of time-worn timber, Rustic Textures New Forest Oak from J2 Flooring is an extraordinary choice. Designed to bring natural warmth and character into modern homes, this floor reproduces the rich graining, subtle knots, and earthy tones of classic English oak. At Floorstore Direct, we have built our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy LVT flooring by bringing homeowners premium, stylish solutions that handle the demands of everyday life with ease.

Featuring a versatile 152mm plank width, New Forest Oak provides a balanced, traditional plank format that sits comfortably in both cozy traditional cottages and sleek modern apartments. As part of the popular Rustic Textures collection by J2 Flooring, it offers the organic look of genuine hardwood alongside the soft underfoot feel and acoustic comfort of modern vinyl flooring. Engineered as 100% waterproof flooring, it allows you to extend the natural warmth of timber into moisture-prone spaces like kitchens, utility rooms, and bathrooms without worrying about warping or swelling.

Precision Installation: The Glue-Down Advantage

Engineered with a streamlined 2mm thickness, Rustic Textures New Forest Oak utilizes a classic glue down installation method. Direct bonding provides exceptional floor stability, eliminates hollow walking sounds, and optimizes thermal conductivity when paired with underfloor heating systems.

To ensure a flawless finish that lasts for decades, proper surface preparation is vital. All subfloors must be clean, dry, and completely smooth before installing a glue down LVT. Because the flexible 2mm profile bonds directly to the base, any trapped dust, grit, dampness, or subfloor ridges can telegraph through the smooth finish over time. We always recommend applying a suitable primer followed by a high-grade smoothing latex screed or marine-grade plywood overlay to establish a mirror-flat foundation. Once installed, its durable protective wear layer ensures effortless maintenance and long-term stain resistance.

Ask a Question

1. Why is a 2mm glue-down LVT ideal for home renovation projects? A 2mm profile provides a low-profile installation height, making it ideal when fitting around existing door frames, skirting boards, or adjoining room transitions without needing to trim doors. When glued directly down, it offers a firm, solid feel underfoot with zero flex.

2. Why must my subfloor be completely smooth, clean, and dry before installation? Because a 2mm glue-down LVT is thin and flexible, it adheres closely to the surface beneath it. Any hidden sand, gravel, or subfloor unevenness will mirror onto the top surface over time and could weaken the adhesive bond. Ensuring a clean, dry, and flat base guarantees a seamless, professional finish.

3. Is J2 Flooring Rustic Textures New Forest Oak suitable for high-moisture areas? Yes, absolutely! Unlike real timber flooring, which can swell or cup when exposed to liquid spills, this luxury vinyl flooring is 100% waterproof. When glued down with the recommended adhesive, everyday bathroom splashes and kitchen spills can be wiped away effortlessly without damaging the floor.

Recommend Adhesive

LVT can shrink, expand, or lift under pressure if not properly bonded. Uzin KE66 is the adhesive we recommend as it is a fibre reinforced adhesive, which means it holds the tile firmly in place, preventing movement even in high-traffic areas or when exposed to temperature fluctuations. Please note all subfloors must be 100% clean, dry and level before LVT installation. Check out our adhesives, levelling compounds and primers here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Glue down LVT Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
