Product Description

Grand Scale Elegance: iCONIC Sherwood Herringbone 100mm

If you are looking to elevate your interior with a floor that seamlessly combines grand architectural proportion with rich timber realism, the iCONIC Sherwood Herringbone 100mm from J2 Flooring is an exceptional choice. Featuring a generous 400mm x 100mm plank profile, this floor reimagines traditional parquet on a larger, more impactful scale. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our place as the best place in Ireland to buy LVT flooring and herringbone flooring by bringing homeowners the very best in European-inspired design and durability.

The Sherwood pattern showcases a warm, inviting natural oak tone filled with soft graining, subtle knots, and authentic organic depth. Designed to bring understated Scandinavian warmth and luxury to contemporary homes, this versatile natural oak shade acts as a stunning foundation for any interior aesthetic. As part of the elite J2 Flooring collection, this 100% waterproof flooring gives you the timeless beauty of genuine hardwood parquet without any of the costly maintenance, swelling, or refinishing required by real timber.

Professional Precision: The Glue-Down Advantage

Engineered with a streamlined 2.5mm profile, this LVT herringbone relies on a classic glue down installation method. Direct bonding provides supreme dimensional stability, eliminates sound transmission underfoot, and ensures maximum heat distribution when installed over underfloor heating systems.

To achieve a flawless, magazine-ready finish, surface preparation is essential. All subfloors must be clean, dry, and completely smooth before installing a glue down LVT. Because the flexible 2.5mm vinyl flooring adheres directly to your base, any hidden dust, grit, dampness, or subfloor ridges can telegraph through the surface over time. We always recommend applying a high-grade latex smoothing screed or suitable marine-ply overlay to ensure a mirror-flat foundation. Once laid, its heavy-duty wear layer guarantees a beautiful, stain-resistant surface for years to come.

Ask a Question

1. How does the larger 400x100mm plank size affect the look of the room compared to smaller herringbone planks? The wider, longer 400x100mm plank creates a broader, more modern parquet pattern repeat. This larger scale opens up living areas, kitchens, and open-plan spaces, making rooms feel visually larger and less busy while maintaining that iconic herringbone flooring charm.

2. Why is thorough subfloor preparation so crucial before laying glue-down Sherwood Herringbone? Glue-down LVT conforms precisely to the contours of the subfloor underneath it. If the base has dust, moisture, or minor bumps, those imperfections will show through the 2.5mm surface and can ruin the adhesive bond. Ensuring your subfloor is clean, dry, and perfectly smooth guarantees a seamless, long-lasting installation.

3. Is Sherwood Herringbone suitable for wet areas like bathrooms and utility rooms? Yes, absolutely!Unlike real wood parquet, which warps and swells when exposed to water, this luxury vinyl flooring is 100% waterproof. When installed with the correct water-resistant adhesive, everyday spills and splashes wipe away effortlessly, making it an ideal choice for high-moisture rooms.

Recommend Adhesive

LVT can shrink, expand, or lift under pressure if not properly bonded. Uzin KE66 is the adhesive we recommend as it is a fibre reinforced adhesive, which means it holds the tile firmly in place, preventing movement even in high-traffic areas or when exposed to temperature fluctuations. Please note all subfloors must be 100% clean, dry and level before LVT installation. Check out our adhesives, levelling compounds and primers here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Glue down LVT Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
