1. Does the "Nude Oak" colour show up dirt more than darker oak effects? Actually, Canadian Nude Oak is incredibly practical. Its pale, multi-tonal grain and matte finish are excellent at masking light dust, pet hair, and dried water spots. Unlike very dark floors that highlight every speck, this neutral oak design keeps your room looking fresh and clean for longer between mops.
2. Is the 6.5mm thickness suitable for heavy furniture like a piano? Absolutely. The strength of an SPC floor comes from the density of its core. The K-Core® in the Van Gogh range is incredibly dense, providing superior indentation resistance. This makes it perfectly suited for heavy kitchen islands, dining tables, and high-footfall areas without the risk of the planks dipping.
3. Can I install "Canadian Nude Oak" in a room with a large wood-burning stove? Yes, Van Gogh is thermally stable and perfectly compatible with the ambient heat of a living room. However, it should not be used as a direct hearth. As long as you maintain the standard clearance for your stove and use a non-combustible hearth plate, this pale oak floor will perform beautifully and stay dimensionally stable.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Van Gogh from Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
