Product Description
Sophisticated, timeless, and effortlessly stylish, Stafford Oak Herringbone is the epitome of classic design reimagined for modern living. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered floors, herringbone floors, and hardwood flooring, this luxurious 18mm herringbone floor brings depth, warmth, and elegance to any interior. With its smoked and white matt lacquered finish, Stafford Oak Herringbone offers the perfect combination of rustic charm and contemporary sophistication — a floor that elevates any space it touches.
Crafted from premium European oak, Stafford Oak Herringbone showcases the natural beauty of real wood with a refined modern edge. The smoked process enriches the colour of the oak, deepening the tone and enhancing the grain pattern to reveal the wood’s true character. This is followed by a white matt lacquer finish, which lightens the overall appearance, giving the floor a soft, balanced look that blends perfectly into both traditional and contemporary settings. The result is a beautifully subtle contrast — warm undertones meet cool highlights — creating a calm, welcoming atmosphere in any home or commercial space.
The brushed texture of the oak surface enhances the natural grain, giving it an organic, tactile feel. This technique lifts the wood’s fibres slightly, adding gentle texture while maintaining a smooth and comfortable surface underfoot. It’s a finish that feels authentic to the touch and visually rich, offering a sense of craftsmanship that’s immediately recognisable.
The matt lacquer finish adds a layer of protection while preserving the oak’s natural beauty. Unlike high-gloss finishes, matt lacquer maintains a soft, understated sheen that keeps the focus on the wood’s natural tone and texture. It provides exceptional durability and resistance against everyday wear, moisture, and scratches — perfect for family homes, open-plan spaces, or high-traffic areas.
The herringbone pattern is a timeless symbol of sophistication and heritage. Its interlocking design adds visual movement and architectural depth to any room, making it ideal for living rooms, hallways, dining areas, and even modern offices. Whether paired with sleek furniture or classic décor, Stafford Oak Herringbone instantly adds a sense of luxury and refinement.
With a rustic A/Nature grading, this engineered herringbone floor highlights the authentic details of natural wood, including small knots, subtle colour variations, and delicate touches of sapwood. These organic features give each plank its own personality while keeping an overall elegant and consistent appearance.
Built with a sturdy 18mm multi-layer construction, Stafford Oak Herringbone offers the beauty of hardwood flooring with the technical advantages of engineered flooring. Its design provides exceptional stability, making it resistant to warping and movement — ideal for Ireland’s variable climate and fully compatible with underfloor heating systems.
For a professional and long-lasting installation, Stafford Oak Herringbone must be glued directly to the subfloor, ensuring a secure bond and a premium feel underfoot.

Recommend Adhesive
Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Trunk Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
