Elegance Reimagined: Supreme Hydro French Grey
If you are looking to infuse your home with a sense of Parisian chic and modern tranquility, the Supreme Hydro French Grey from Balterio is the ultimate flooring solution. This floor is a masterclass in subtle sophistication, featuring a soft, muted grey palette that perfectly complements the “Greige” and minimalist trends sweeping across Ireland. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring by offering premium collections that combine high-end European design with unbeatable structural integrity.
The French Grey decor is designed to act as a versatile canvas for your interior. Its gentle, cool undertones help to maximize natural light, making even smaller rooms feel airy and expansive. As a flagship product in the Balterio flooring lineup, it utilises “True-to-Nature” technology—where the physical texture of the board is meticulously synchronised with the visual grain. This ensures your floor feels as authentic as it looks, providing a tactile experience that mimics genuine brushed oak.
Industrial Strength: 10mm AC5 Water-Resistant Engineering
In a busy Irish household, beauty must be backed by “life-proof” performance. The Supreme Hydro range is built to thrive in the most demanding environments, ensuring your investment remains flawless for decades.
- HydroShield Technology: This floor is 100% water-resistant for up to 24 hours. Thanks to the moisture-repellent coating and precision-milled joints, you can confidently install Supreme Hydro French Grey in kitchens, utility rooms, and even bathrooms.
- AC5 Commercial Grade Durability: While most residential floors stop at AC4, French Grey boasts an AC5 rating—the highest durability standard available. It is virtually immune to scratches from active pets, high heels, and heavy furniture.
- 10mm Architectural Profile: The substantial 10mm thickness offers a solid feel underfoot and superior sound insulation. It provides the premium acoustic “thud” of solid wood rather than the hollow “click” of thinner laminates.

Ask a Question
1. Does "French Grey" look cold in rooms with limited natural light? Not at all. Unlike "Blue-Grey" laminates, French Grey has a balanced, neutral base. This means it maintains a cozy, welcoming feel even in north-facing rooms. Under artificial warm lighting, the subtle oak grain emerges more clearly, adding a layer of organic warmth to the space.
2. Why is an AC5 rating better for a home than the standard AC4? While AC4 is excellent for homes, AC5 is designed for high-traffic shops and offices. In a residential setting, this means ultimate peace of mind. It is specifically recommended for households with large dogs or for "high-stress" areas like hallways and kitchens where grit and footfall are constant.
3. Is the "True-to-Nature" texture harder to clean? Surprisingly, it’s actually easier. Smooth, high-gloss floors tend to show every streak and footprint. The textured, matte finish of French Grey naturally hides micro-scratches and dust. Because it is water-resistant, a simple damp microfibre mop is all you need to keep it pristine.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Balterio laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
