Serene Sophistication: Supreme Hydro Clay Oak by Balterio
Transform your home into a tranquil retreat with the Supreme Hydro Clay Oak from Balterio. If you are looking for a floor that balances modern minimalism with organic warmth, this soft grey laminate is the ultimate choice. At Floorstore Direct, we have solidified our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring by offering high-performance collections that don’t compromise on style.
The Clay Oak decor features a delicate, muted grey palette with subtle taupe undertones, designed to evoke the calming textures of natural earth and stone. As a flagship product in the Balterio flooring lineup, it utilizes “True-to-Nature” technology—where the surface texture is perfectly synchronized with the visual wood grain. This ensures your floor feels as authentic as it looks, providing a tactile experience that mimics genuine brushed oak.
Maximum Performance: 10mm AC5 Water-Resistant Engineering
In an Irish household, a floor needs to be more than just visually stunning; it needs to be “life-proof.” The Supreme Hydro range is built to thrive in the most demanding environments, from busy family kitchens to high-traffic commercial spaces.
- HydroShield Technology: This floor is 100% water-resistant for up to 24 hours. Thanks to the moisture-repellent coating and precision-fit joints, you can install Supreme Hydro Clay Oak in bathrooms and kitchens without the fear of warping or swelling.
- AC5 Commercial Grade Durability: Most residential floors stop at AC4. The Clay Oak boasts an AC5 rating, the highest durability standard available. It is virtually immune to scratches from pets, high heels, and heavy furniture.
- 10mm Architectural Profile: The 10mm thickness offers a substantial, solid feel underfoot. It provides superior sound insulation and stability, giving your home the premium acoustic “thud” of solid wood rather than the hollow “click” of thinner laminates.

Ask a Question
1. Does "Clay Oak" look cold in rooms with limited natural light? Not at all. Unlike "Blue-Grey" laminates, Clay Oak has a "warm grey" or "greige" base. This means it maintains a cozy, welcoming feel even in north-facing rooms. Under artificial warm lighting, the subtle oak grain emerges more clearly, adding a layer of organic warmth to the space.
2. Why is AC5 durability important for a domestic home? While AC4 is the standard for homes, AC5 provides ultimate peace of mind. It is designed for high-traffic shops and offices, meaning in a residential hallway or kitchen, it will stay looking brand new for significantly longer. It is the best choice for households with large dogs or those who want a "lifetime" floor.
3. Is the "True-to-Nature" texture harder to clean than a smooth floor? Actually, it’s easier. Smooth, high-gloss floors tend to show every streak and footprint. The textured, matte finish of Clay Oak naturally hides micro-scratches and dust. Because it is water-resistant, a damp microfibre mop is all you need to keep it pristine.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Balterio laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
