Ask a Question
1. What makes the "Heritage" grain different from standard oak laminates? Heritage Oak is designed with a "True-to-Nature" touch. Unlike basic laminates that have a repeating, flat pattern, this floor uses a synchronized embossing process. This means the texture you feel—the knots, cracks, and grain lines—perfectly matches the visual pattern. When the light hits the floor, it reflects off the texture just like real rustic timber, making it nearly indistinguishable from a solid oiled oak.
2. Can I install Heritage Oak in a kitchen despite it being an 8mm board? Yes, absolutely. While it has a slimmer 8mm profile, it carries a high-density fibreboard (HDF) core that is moisture-resistant. This makes it a stable choice for kitchens where humidity and minor splashes occur. For added security in a kitchen setting, we recommend using a joint sealer during installation to ensure the 4-sided V-grooves remain protected against surface spills.
3. Does the rustic pattern look too busy in small Irish bedrooms? Actually, it has the opposite effect. The Supreme 4V Heritage Oak uses a mid-toned, golden rustic palette that hides "life" (dust, pet hair, and minor scuffs) exceptionally well. In smaller rooms, the 4-sided V-groove provides clear definition between planks, which creates a sense of structured geometry that can actually make a small space feel more organized and expansive rather than cluttered.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Balterio laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
