Ask a Question
1. How does the "Camden Oak" tone vary in different lighting conditions? Camden Oak is a sophisticated mid-oak floor that acts as a visual "neutralizer" in Irish homes. In rooms with plenty of natural northern light, it reveals a crisp, clean oak grain that feels modern and fresh. Under warmer evening LED or lamp lighting, the rich honey undertones become more prominent, creating a cozy and traditional atmosphere that pairs beautifully with soft furnishings.
2. What makes the 8mm Supreme 4V board a "smart" choice for home renovations? For many homeowners in Ireland, floor height is a major technical hurdle during renovations. The 8mm thickness of the Supreme 4V Camden Oak is a "sweet spot"—it is thin enough to often fit under existing doors without needing to plane or trim them, yet it is dense enough to offer an AC4 durability rating. This means you get a professional, high-end look without the added labor of significant structural adjustments.
3. Is "Water Resistant" laminate safe for use in an open-plan kitchen and dining area? Yes, it is specifically designed for the "busy zones" of a home. While not fully waterproof like a resin-core board, the Balterio Supreme 4V range features a moisture-resistant core that is treated to repel minor spills and splashes. As long as liquid spills are wiped up within a reasonable timeframe (using a damp, not soaking, mop), the 4-sided V-groove will remain protected, preventing the "peaking" or swelling that can occur with cheaper, untreated laminates.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Balterio laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
