Coastal Elegance: Rustic Textures Grey Driftwood Herringbone
If you want to infuse your living space with a sophisticated, weathered aesthetic that exudes modern style, the Rustic Textures Grey Driftwood Herringbone from J2 Flooring is an absolute masterpiece. This floor captures the cool, organic tones of driftwood washed ashore, bringing a soft grey oak color palette complete with realistic grain textures and subtle vintage charm. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy LVT flooring and herringbone flooring by offering premium European designs that elevate any interior.
Herringbone parquet instantly adds a sense of luxury, movement, and architectural history to a room. As part of the popular Rustic Textures collection by J2 Flooring, this product pairs timeless chevron styling with the soft, warm comfort of modern vinyl flooring. Engineered as 100% waterproof flooring, it allows you to bring high-end herringbone elegance into moisture-prone zones like kitchens, utility rooms, and bathrooms without worrying about warping or moisture damage.
Precision Installation: The Glue-Down Advantage
Engineered with a streamlined 2mm thickness, this lvt herringbone flooring is designed for a permanent, professional glue down installation method. Direct bonding provides exceptional floor stability, eliminates hollow walking sounds underfoot, and ensures optimal heat transfer when paired with underfloor heating systems.
To achieve a flawless, magazine-worthy finish, strict surface preparation is essential. All subfloors must be clean, dry, and completely smooth before installing a glue down LVT. Because the slim 2mm profile bonds directly to your base, any hidden dust, grit, dampness, or subfloor ridges can telegraph through the surface over time. We always recommend applying a high-grade smoothing latex screed or marine-grade plywood overlay to establish a mirror-flat foundation. Once laid, its durable protective wear layer guarantees effortless maintenance and long-term stain resistance.

Ask a Question
1. How does the grey driftwood tone affect the brightness of a room? The soft, multi-tonal grey oak shade acts as a neutral canvas that reflects natural light beautifully. Unlike heavy dark greys, Grey Driftwood brings a breezy, airy feel to spaces, making it a brilliant choice for both compact apartments and large, open-plan Irish homes.
2. Why is subfloor preparation so critical for a 2mm glue-down herringbone floor? Because glue-down LVT is thin and flexible, it mirrors the exact contours of whatever lies beneath it. If your subfloor has dirt, moisture, or uneven bumps, those flaws will show through the surface. Ensuring your subfloor is clean, dry, and completely smooth is the secret to a professional, long-lasting installation.
3. Is Grey Driftwood Herringbone suitable for high-moisture rooms like kitchens and bathrooms? Yes, absolutely! Unlike traditional wood parquet, which swells and warps when exposed to water, this luxury vinyl flooring is 100% waterproof. When glued down with the recommended adhesive, everyday splashes wipe away effortlessly, giving you the luxury parquet look without the maintenance worries.
Recommend Adhesive
LVT can shrink, expand, or lift under pressure if not properly bonded. Uzin KE66 is the adhesive we recommend as it is a fibre reinforced adhesive, which means it holds the tile firmly in place, preventing movement even in high-traffic areas or when exposed to temperature fluctuations. Please note all subfloors must be 100% clean, dry and level before LVT installation. Check out our adhesives, levelling compounds and primers here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Glue down LVT Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
