SKU: Solid Triple Smoked Unfinished Herringbone

Our Orient Herringbone Triple Smoked is a stunning Oak coloured hardwood parquet floor with an almost walnut tone. The beautiful warmth and depth to this board is caused through the smoking process where ammonia is released and the reaction that occurs will deepen the colour of the floor. Because of this, the colour throughout the board deepens so even when it’s sanded back that tone remains. Because it is an oak board it is made from European timbers and has unbelievable strength. Its 22mm thickness will ensure this floor lasts a lifetime. As it is a solid floor it can be sanded and varnished multiple times throughout its life.

Product Description

Add richness, depth, and timeless charm to your home with the Triple Smoked Oak Herringbone, exclusively available from FloorStore Direct — Ireland’s leading destination for solid floors, herringbone floors, and hardwood flooring. This stunning solid oak herringbone is designed to elevate any space with its bold tones, natural beauty, and enduring strength.

The Triple Smoked Oak Herringbone is an 18mm thick solid oak floor, specially treated through a triple-smoking process to create a beautifully deep and varied colour palette. The smoking enhances the oak’s natural grain, infusing it with dark chocolate, rich caramel, and subtle golden hues that shift gently with the light. The result is a luxurious and dramatic hardwood floor that captures both modern sophistication and traditional warmth — the perfect centrepiece for any Irish home.

Supplied unfinished, this floor must be finished on site with either an oil or lacquer, allowing you to personalise its final appearance. An oiled finish will bring out the rich tones and highlight the texture of the wood, giving a natural matte look that feels organic underfoot. Alternatively, a lacquered finish offers a sleek protective layer with enhanced durability and easy maintenance. Either way, the finish ensures your floor remains as striking and resilient as the day it’s laid.

The rustic grading of this solid herringbone means each plank carries the hallmarks of genuine oak — knots, colour variation, and traces of sapwood that celebrate the individuality of real wood. When laid in the timeless herringbone pattern, these natural features combine to create a dynamic, visually engaging floor that feels both luxurious and grounded. It’s a design that never goes out of style, blending perfectly with everything from classic period homes to modern interiors.

Because it is a solid floor, the Triple Smoked Oak Herringbone must be glued directly to the subfloor. This method ensures ultimate stability and longevity, making it a lifelong investment. Oak’s natural density and strength make it an ideal choice for busy living areas, hallways, and open-plan spaces — standing up beautifully to everyday wear while gaining even more character over time.

At FloorStore Direct, we pride ourselves on offering Ireland’s best range of solid wood, herringbone, and hardwood flooring, backed by expert advice and exceptional service. Whether you’re renovating a period property or designing a contemporary masterpiece, our team will help you choose the perfect floor to complement your space.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Solid Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. This is an unfinished floor so it must be finished on site with an oil or a lacquer. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions. All Solid Flooring must be left in the room for at least 2-3 weeks prior to installation to be allowed to acclimatise.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Solid Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
