SKU: Solid Teak Unfinished Herringbone

Our Orient Herringbone Burmese Teak is a stunning hardwood parquet floor in a beautiful exotic timber. Made from a timber so strong and durable it has been used in shipbuilding. Because of this, you have one of the hardest, most durable timbers in the world. As it is native to the damp climate of South East Asia while it is not water proof, it is definitely a much better option for kitchens than most timbers. Its 18mm thickness will ensure this floor lasts a lifetime. As it is a solid floor it can be sanded and varnished multiple times throughout its life.

Product Description

Bring natural sophistication and timeless luxury into your home with the Solid Teak Herringbone from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading supplier of solid floors, herringbone floors, and hardwood floors. Renowned for its durability, beauty, and exotic warmth, teak has long been one of the most desirable hardwoods in the world — and this elegant solid herringbone pattern captures everything that makes it so exceptional.

This 18mm thick solid teak herringbone is crafted for those who appreciate both traditional craftsmanship and long-lasting quality. Each block is made from genuine teak timber, celebrated for its rich golden-brown hue, natural oils, and fine interlocking grain. The result is a floor that exudes luxury while offering outstanding resistance to wear, moisture, and everyday use — ideal for both residential and commercial interiors seeking refinement and resilience.

Supplied unfinished, this teak herringbone floor allows you to choose the perfect final touch. Whether you prefer the subtle glow of a natural oil finish that enhances its deep amber tones, or the sleek protection of a lacquered surface, your floor can be tailored to match your personal style and environment. Once finished, it reveals a depth and warmth that few other woods can match, glowing with a timeless patina that only improves as it ages.

The rustic grading of this teak herringbone introduces a delightful sense of authenticity. Natural knots, colour variation, and traces of sapwood lend character and individuality to every block, ensuring that no two floors are ever the same. When laid in a traditional herringbone pattern, the floor becomes a work of art — dynamic, eye-catching, and beautifully balanced between old-world elegance and modern sophistication.

As with all solid floors, installation is key to performance and longevity. This teak herringbone must be glued directly to the subfloor, creating a stable and enduring surface that will last for generations. Thanks to the strength and density of teak, it is particularly suited for high-traffic spaces, while its natural oils provide a built-in resistance to humidity — making it one of the most reliable hardwoods available today.

Our expert team is always available to guide you in choosing the perfect floor for your home, ensuring you receive not just premium materials but also the right advice and support from start to finish.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Solid Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. This is an unfinished floor so it must be finished on site with an oil or a lacquer. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions. All Solid Flooring must be left in the room for at least 2-3 weeks prior to installation to be allowed to acclimatise.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Solid Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
