Sophisticated Depth: Nature’s Finest Auburn Oak
If you want to anchor your home with a floor that radiates prestige and timeless warmth, the Nature’s Finest Auburn Oak from Egger is an unrivaled selection. This floor is designed for those who appreciate the rich, complex beauty of dark timber. At Floorstore Direct, we have solidified our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring by offering high-performance collections that combine high-end design with the rugged durability required for Irish life.
Previously known to homeowners and designers as Brown Melba Oak, this iconic decor has been reimagined under the Nature’s Finest banner. It retains the same beloved character—a deep, auburn-infused dark oak palette with realistic grain variations and a tactile “Deepskin” finish. As a centerpiece of the Egger flooring range, Auburn Oak provides a luxurious foundation that pairs perfectly with mid-century modern furniture, industrial accents, or classic, plush interiors.
The 12mm Advantage: AC4 Water-Resistant Durability
In the world of flooring, the feel of a room is often dictated by the thickness of the board. Auburn Oak is not just a surface; it is a substantial 12mm foundation engineered for the “beautiful chaos” of a busy household.
-
12mm Architectural Profile: The extra thickness provides a rock-solid feel underfoot and superior acoustic performance. It eliminates the hollow “click” often associated with thinner floors, giving your home the premium weight and “thud” of solid hardwood.
-
Water-Resistant Swell Protection: Built with Egger’s advanced HDF+ core technology, this floor is designed to handle everyday life. From damp footprints in the hallway to kitchen splashes, the water-resistant surface ensures your investment remains stable and gorgeous for years.
-
AC4 Durability Rating: Certified for heavy residential use, this laminate is engineered to resist micro-scratches from pets, high heels, and the constant movement of furniture.

Ask a Question
1. Is "Auburn Oak" the exact same colour as the old "Brown Melba Oak"? Yes! While Egger has transitioned the name to Auburn Oak within the Nature’s Finest collection, the decor and rich, dark brown tones remain identical. If you are trying to match an existing installation of Brown Melba Oak, this is the exact match you need.
2. Does a dark floor like Auburn Oak make a room feel smaller? Actually, it can make a space feel more "grounded" and expensive. When paired with light-coloured walls and crisp white skirting boards, the deep tones of Auburn Oak provide a high-contrast look that defines the room's boundaries, making even modest-sized rooms feel like a luxury suite.
3. Is a 12mm floor better for underfloor heating than an 8mm floor? While both are compatible, a 12mm board provides a more stable thermal mass. It might take slightly longer to heat up initially, but it retains heat beautifully once at temperature, providing a consistent, comfortable warmth that perfectly complements the rich, cozy aesthetic of the Auburn Oak finish.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Egger laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
