Timeless Beauty: Nature’s Choice Traditional Oak
If you are looking for a floor that captures the enduring heart of a classic home, the Nature’s Choice Traditional Oakfrom Egger is a peerless selection. This floor is designed for those who appreciate the balanced, organic warmth of a natural mid-oak palette. At Floorstore Direct, we have solidified our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring by offering premium collections that combine soulful, authentic aesthetics with the high-tech durability required for modern Irish living.
Previously known to many homeowners and designers as Parquet Oak, this decor has been reimagined under the Nature’s Choice banner. It retains the same beloved character—featuring a rich, golden-brown hue with intricate grain details and subtle knots that add a rustic yet sophisticated touch. As a standout in the Egger flooring range, it features an Omnipore surface structure, providing a natural wood-pore finish that looks and feels indistinguishable from real timber.
Engineered for Life: 8mm AC4 Water-Resistant Protection
In a busy Irish household, beauty must be backed by “life-proof” performance. Whether it’s the high-traffic demands of a hallway or the occasional spill in a family kitchen, the Traditional Oak is built to withstand it all.
-
Water-Resistant Swell Protection: This floor features Egger’s advanced HDF+ core board technology, providing dependable protection against everyday moisture. While it offers the look of solid oak, it provides the moisture resistance necessary for kitchens and utility rooms.
-
AC4 Durability Rating: Certified for heavy residential use, this 8mm laminate is engineered to resist scratches from active pets, high heels, and the daily movement of furniture.
-
CLIC it! System: Featuring Egger’s innovative installation technology, the Traditional Oak offers a fast, secure, and glueless fit. The tight joints provide a reliable barrier against dirt and moisture ingress, ensuring your floor stays stable for years.

Ask a Question
1. Is "Traditional Oak" the exact same colour as the old "Parquet Oak"? Yes! While Egger has transitioned the name to Traditional Oak within the Nature’s Choice collection, the decor and mid-oak tones remain identical. If you are looking to finish a project started with Parquet Oak, this is the exact match you need.
2. Does the "Mid-Oak" tone work with both light and dark furniture? Absolutely. Traditional Oak is considered a "universal neutral" in the flooring world. Its balanced colour palette allows it to pair seamlessly with light Scandinavian furniture for a bright look, or with dark walnut and navy accents for a more prestigious, classic feel.
3. Is this floor suitable for a kitchen? Yes. Thanks to its water-resistant construction and AC4 rating, it is well-suited for kitchens. It offers a much warmer and more comfortable surface underfoot compared to cold tiles, provided that large spills are wiped up promptly to protect the core.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Egger laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
