Discover the Timeless Appeal of Nature’s Choice Tawny Oak
When it comes to creating a home that feels warm, inviting, and grounded, few things compare to the natural beauty of oak. The Nature’s Choice Tawny Oak from Egger is a masterclass in balanced design, offering a mid-oak palette that radiates organic charm. At Floorstore Direct, we have solidified our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring by curating products that bridge the gap between aesthetic luxury and everyday practicality.
Previously known to many homeowners and interior designers as Light Brown North Oak, this beloved decor has been reimagined under the Nature’s Choice banner. It retains the same sophisticated, toasted-honey tones and realistic grain patterns that made it a bestseller, now with the added benefit of modern engineering. As a flagship product in the Egger flooring lineup, Tawny Oak features a “Deepskin” surface texture, ensuring the floor doesn’t just look like real wood—it feels like it too.
Engineered for the Irish Home: 8mm AC4 Resilience
In a busy Irish household, a floor needs to be “life-proof.” Whether it’s muddy paws coming in from the garden or the inevitable kitchen spill, the Tawny Oak is built to withstand the beautiful chaos of daily life.
-
Water-Resistant Technology: This floor is designed with advanced swell-protection. While it mimics the look of traditional solid wood, its water-resistant surface and high-density core make it a far more practical choice for kitchens, hallways, and living areas where moisture is a factor.
-
AC4 Durability Rating: Certified for heavy residential use, this 8mm laminate is engineered to resist scratches, impacts, and the constant movement of furniture. It is the perfect choice for high-traffic zones that need to stay looking pristine.
-
CLIC it! System: Featuring Egger’s world-renowned installation technology, Tawny Oak offers a fast, secure, and glueless fit. The tight joints provide a reliable barrier against dirt and moisture ingress.

Ask a Question
1. Is "Tawny Oak" the exact same colour as the old "Light Brown North Oak"? Yes! While Egger has transitioned the name to Tawny Oak within the Nature’s Choice collection, the decor, warmth, and grain patterns remain identical. If you are looking to finish a project started with Light Brown North Oak, this is the exact match you need.
2. Does the "Tawny" mid-oak tone work well with modern grey walls? Absolutely. In fact, many designers use Tawny Oak as an organic "anchor" to warm up cool-toned rooms. The mid-brown tones provide a stunning contrast to "Greige" or Charcoal walls, preventing the space from feeling too clinical or cold.
3. Is this floor easy to maintain in a home with pets? Yes, it’s one of the best choices for pet owners. The AC4 surfaceis highly resistant to micro-scratches from claws, and the water-resistant properties mean that any "accidents" or wet paw prints won't damage the board if wiped away promptly. A simple damp microfibre mop is all you need for a deep clean.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Egger laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
