Product Description

Timeless Character: Nature Sense Valley Oak

If you are looking to ground your home with a floor that radiates heritage, warmth, and a touch of vintage charm, the Valley Oak from the Egger Nature Sense range is an unrivaled choice. This floor is designed for those who appreciate the deep, soulful character of aged, smoked timber. At Floorstore Direct, we have built our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring by offering premium European designs that cater to the Irish love for cozy, lived-in luxury.

Valley Oak is a masterclass in “rustic naturalness.” Featuring a rich, smoked brown palette with authentic “used” effects, fine pores, and striking cracks, it provides a stunning contrast to modern, neutral interiors. As a highlight of the Egger flooring collection, it utilizes a Natural Pore surface—a synchronized embossing that allows you to feel the grain and texture exactly where you see it. It isn’t just a floor; it’s a tactile experience that brings the spirit of the forest into your living room.

The 10mm Powerhouse: AC4 Water-Resistant Excellence

In a busy Irish household, beauty must be backed by a rock-solid foundation. Valley Oak is engineered with a substantial 10mm profile, placing it in the elite category of durable residential laminates.

  • 10mm Architectural Profile: The extra thickness provides a substantial, solid feel underfoot and superior acoustic performance. It eliminates the hollow “click” sound often associated with thinner floors, giving your home the premium weight and stability of real solid wood.

  • Aqua CLIC it! Technology: Life is full of surprises, from muddy paws in the hallway to spills in the kitchen. This range features 24-hour water resistance, providing a reliable barrier against moisture penetration and ensuring your smoked oak finish stays flawless for years.

  • AC4 Durability Rating: Certified for heavy residential use, this 10mm laminate is built to resist micro-scratches, impacts, and the daily movement of heavy furniture.

Ask a Question

1. What does "Smoked Oak" actually mean for the colour? "Smoked" refers to a process that mimics how real oak reacts when treated with smoke to darken its natural hue. In this laminate, it results in a deep, multi-tonal brown with greyish-undertones. This makes Valley Oak incredibly versatile; it hides dirt well and pairs perfectly with both traditional black iron accents and modern white furniture.

2. Is a 10mm board significantly quieter than 8mm? Yes. The 10mm high-density core provides much better sound absorption. When combined with a high-quality underlay, it significantly reduces the "clatter" of footsteps and pet claws, making it a "quieter" floor for open-plan living areas or upstairs bedrooms.

3. Can Valley Oak be installed in a kitchen? Absolutely. Thanks to the Aqua CLIC it! system and moisture-resistant core, this floor provides 24-hour protection against surface moisture. It is an ideal, warmer alternative to cold tiles in kitchens and utility rooms. For maximum security, we recommend sealing the expansion gaps around the perimeter with waterproof silicone during installation.

Recommended Underlay

The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Egger laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
