Product Description

Elegant, versatile, and naturally beautiful, Mountain Mist Oak is a premium engineered wood floor designed to bring a soft, sophisticated charm to any space. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this 14mm oak floor features a carefully crafted smoked, light colour stained, planed, brushed, and matt lacquered finish — the perfect balance of contemporary style and natural authenticity.

Each plank of Mountain Mist Oak is a work of craftsmanship, showcasing the organic beauty of European oak while adding a light, modern twist. The smoked treatment deepens the natural grain and highlights subtle contrasts in tone, while the light stain gives the floor a soft, misty hue that brightens any room without losing its warmth. The planed and brushed finish enhances the texture of the wood, giving it a tactile, handcrafted feel that captures the essence of real timber. Finally, the matt lacquer coating provides a smooth, protective surface that keeps the floor looking its best while preserving the natural look and feel of oak.

The rustic/character grading of this floor celebrates the individuality of nature. Each plank contains beautiful imperfections such as knots, natural colour variation, and areas of sapwood, ensuring that every installation has its own unique personality. These natural details give Mountain Mist Oak a timeless, lived-in appeal that feels authentic and inviting — ideal for both modern open-plan spaces and traditional family homes.

Built for strength and stability, this 14mm multi-layered engineered floor offers exceptional performance without compromising on beauty. Unlike solid hardwood flooring, engineered flooring is designed to withstand Ireland’s fluctuating climate, preventing movement caused by changes in humidity and temperature. Its clever construction ensures long-term stability and durability, making it perfect for homes where practicality and aesthetics go hand in hand.

Mountain Mist Oak also offers flexibility when it comes to installation. It can be glued directly to the subfloor for a solid, premium feel or floated using its tongue and groove system for a quicker, more versatile installation method. Both options deliver a seamless, elegant result, providing a luxurious and long-lasting finish that complements any interior design.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Mountain Range is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
