Product Description

Timeless, elegant, and rich in natural character, Mountain Herringbone Rustic Oak is a stunning engineered herringbone floor that captures the true beauty of handcrafted wood flooring. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this 14mm oak herringbone features a refined planed, brushed, and matt lacquered finish. The result is a floor that combines classic herringbone charm with the durability and performance of modern engineered design — perfect for Irish homes that value both style and substance.

Each block of Mountain Herringbone Rustic Oak has been carefully finished to highlight the natural beauty of European oak. The planed surface gives the wood a smooth yet subtly textured feel, creating a handcrafted appearance that evokes traditional flooring craftsmanship. The brushed treatment enhances the grain and texture, bringing out the intricate details that make oak so distinctive. Finished with a matt lacquer, this floor offers a low-sheen protective layer that enhances the warm tones of the timber while providing long-lasting resistance to daily wear. The result is an elegant, tactile surface that feels authentic underfoot and complements any style of interior.

The rustic/character grading of Mountain Herringbone Rustic Oak celebrates the natural imperfections and charm that make real wood flooring so unique. Each block features knots, grain variations, and touches of sapwood, ensuring no two pieces are ever identical. This natural diversity creates a floor full of depth and personality — one that tells its own story and brings warmth and individuality to your home. The herringbone pattern adds a sophisticated architectural touch, creating a timeless statement floor that’s equally suited to modern, traditional, or transitional spaces.

Behind its handcrafted appearance, Mountain Herringbone Rustic Oak is built with the strength and stability of modern engineering. This 14mm multi-layered engineered floor combines the classic look of solid oak with the technical benefits of engineered construction. Unlike solid wood, engineered flooring is designed to handle Ireland’s ever-changing climate, resisting movement caused by temperature and humidity fluctuations. This ensures that your floor remains stable, smooth, and beautiful for many years to come.

For the best installation results, Mountain Herringbone Rustic Oak must be glued directly to the subfloor. This ensures a secure, seamless fit and enhances the precision of the herringbone pattern, creating a flawless, long-lasting finish that feels luxurious underfoot.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Mountain Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
