Mist Oak Herringbone is a stunning 14mm engineered board which has been prefinished in a UV matt lacquer to give a more natural look and feel, similar to that of an oiled floor. It has a Character/Rustic grade which means that it has a medium colour variation and beautiful large knots. The herringbone pattern gives you that elegant style, and its versatility means that it can be used in both modern or rustic settings. This floor has a brushed surface which gives the floor an added texture and a more natural appearance. The planks are 90mm wide, tongue & groove and come in 450mm fixed lengths. Mist Oak Herringbone has also been smoked to give it a slightly darker appearance. It is also available in a matching straight plank.
Product Description
Elegant, timeless, and full of natural character, Mountain Herringbone Mist Oak is a stunning engineered herringbone floor that captures the perfect blend of traditional charm and modern sophistication. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this 14mm oak herringbone floor features a smoked, light colour stained, planed, brushed, and matt lacquered finish, creating a soft, organic look that instantly elevates any interior.
Each block of Mountain Herringbone Mist Oak tells its own story through tone, texture, and craftsmanship. The smoking process enhances the natural grain of the oak, introducing depth and richness to its light, misty tones. The subtle light stain complements this by adding an airy, neutral warmth — perfect for bright, contemporary spaces or classic interiors that crave a modern touch. The planed and brushed surface reveals the intricate patterns of the grain, adding tactile texture and an authentic, handcrafted feel. Finished with a matt lacquer, this floor offers a silky, low-sheen appearance that protects against daily wear while maintaining the natural beauty of the wood.
The rustic/character grading of Mountain Herringbone Mist Oak celebrates the raw elegance of genuine hardwood. Expect to find knots, colour variations, and touches of sapwood, all of which bring life and individuality to the floor. This organic mix of tones and textures ensures that no two floors are ever the same, adding warmth, authenticity, and visual depth to any room. Whether it’s laid in a period-style hallway, a minimalist living space, or a contemporary kitchen, the striking herringbone pattern creates movement and sophistication, making this floor the focal point of your interior design.
Beneath its exquisite finish lies exceptional engineering. This 14mm multi-layered engineered floor is built for strength, stability, and longevity. Unlike solid oak, engineered flooring is designed to handle changes in temperature and humidity — an essential quality for Ireland’s climate. Its robust construction prevents warping and movement, ensuring your floor remains smooth and beautiful for years to come.
For the best installation results, Mountain Herringbone Mist Oak must be glued directly to the subfloor, ensuring a secure, seamless, and long-lasting fit. This installation method enhances the precision of the herringbone design, delivering a flawless, professional finish that exudes luxury and craftsmanship.

Recommend Adhesive
Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Mountain Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
