Our Deep Smoked Oak Herringbone is 14mm thick and has been prefinished in a UV matt lacquer to give a more natural look and feel, similar to that of an oiled floor. It has a Character/Rustic grade which means that it has a medium colour variation and beautiful large knots. The herringbone pattern gives you that elegant style, and its versatility means that it can be used in both modern or rustic settings. This floor has a brushed surface which gives the floor an added texture and a more natural appearance. The planks are 90mm wide, tongue & groove and come in 450mm fixed lengths. Deep Smoked Oak Herringbone has been double smoked to give it a much darker appearance.

Product Description

Rich, bold, and full of natural drama, Mountain Herringbone Deep Smoked Oak is a luxurious engineered herringbone floor that brings timeless character and contemporary refinement together in perfect harmony. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this 14mm oak herringbone features a double smoked, planed, brushed, and matt lacquered finish, creating a statement floor that exudes warmth, depth, and sophistication.

Each block of Mountain Herringbone Deep Smoked Oak is crafted to perfection, showcasing the natural artistry of oak through expert finishing. The double smoking process infuses the wood with deep, rich tones of espresso, walnut, and amber, adding incredible depth and variation to each plank. The planed and brushed surface enhances the natural grain and texture of the oak, giving it a tactile, hand-finished feel that captures the essence of traditional craftsmanship. Finally, the matt lacquer finish seals the wood in a smooth, protective layer that highlights its natural sheen while offering long-lasting resistance to wear and everyday life.

The rustic/character grading of this engineered herringbone celebrates the organic beauty of genuine oak. Expect a floor full of natural details — knots, tonal variation, and touches of sapwood — each adding authenticity and individuality. No two planks are identical, ensuring that your floor is truly one-of-a-kind. The stunning herringbone pattern elevates this effect even further, creating visual movement and elegance that complements both modern and traditional interiors. Whether you’re restoring a period property, designing a high-end retail space, or adding sophistication to your home, Mountain Herringbone Deep Smoked Oak is a floor that makes a lasting impression.

Beneath its exquisite surface lies the durability of modern engineering. This 14mm multi-layered engineered floorcombines the look and feel of solid hardwood with exceptional structural stability. Unlike solid oak, engineered flooringis designed to resist changes in humidity and temperature, making it perfect for Ireland’s climate. Its robust construction ensures long-term performance and compatibility with underfloor heating, allowing you to enjoy luxury and practicality in one.

For the best installation results, Mountain Herringbone Deep Smoked Oak must be glued directly to the subfloor. This secure installation method ensures a seamless, perfectly aligned finish that enhances the precision of the herringbone pattern and provides a strong, stable base for years of enjoyment.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Mountain Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
