Product Description

Bright, natural, and beautifully balanced, Mountain Chalk Oak is an elegant engineered wood floor that brings a sense of calm sophistication to any home. Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s trusted destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this stunning 14mm oak floor features a delicate smoked, light colour stained, planed, brushed, and matt lacquered finish — the perfect combination of timeless craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Each plank of Mountain Chalk Oak is a celebration of natural beauty and subtle detail. The smoked finish enhances the depth and character of the oak grain, while the light stain softens the overall tone, giving the floor a refined, pale hue that feels airy and modern. The planed and brushed surface highlights the authentic texture of the wood, adding a gentle tactile quality that feels as luxurious as it looks. To complete the process, the matt lacquer finish provides a smooth, low-sheen layer of protection that enhances the floor’s natural appearance while resisting wear and everyday scuffs. The result is a floor that’s effortlessly elegant, versatile, and built to last.

The rustic/character grading of this oak floor embraces the natural variation that makes hardwood so distinctive. Expect to find knots, tonal contrasts, and areas of sapwood throughout, each adding personality and depth to the overall design. This natural diversity ensures that no two floors are ever the same, giving your space a unique, handcrafted look. The soft, light tones of Mountain Chalk Oak make it a perfect match for modern interiors that crave brightness and space, while its subtle character detail brings warmth and charm to more traditional homes.

Underneath its beautiful surface, Mountain Chalk Oak delivers the reliability and strength of advanced flooring technology. This 14mm multi-layered engineered floor is designed for long-lasting stability, combining the authentic look of solid oak with the practicality of engineered construction. Unlike solid hardwood, engineered flooring is resistant to the expansion and contraction caused by changes in temperature and humidity — making it perfect for Ireland’s climate and even compatible with underfloor heating.

For ease of installation, Mountain Chalk Oak can be glued directly to the subfloor for a secure, premium fit or floated using its tongue and groove system for faster and more flexible fitting. Both methods provide a seamless finish that showcases the craftsmanship and natural beauty of the wood.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Mountain Range is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
