Product Description

Add soft sophistication and contemporary warmth to your home with Monolam Oak Taupe, a premium engineered wood floor that blends modern design with timeless craftsmanship. Available  from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this beautiful 14mm oak floor features a taupe colour stain, enhanced by a brushed and lacquered finish. The result is an elegant and versatile floor that works effortlessly in both classic and contemporary interiors.

Each plank of Monolam Oak Taupe is carefully crafted to highlight the natural charm of real oak while infusing it with a modern twist. The subtle taupe stain combines warm beige and soft grey undertones, giving the wood a stylish, neutral palette that complements a wide range of colour schemes and décor styles. This makes it the perfect foundation for both bright, airy spaces and rich, moody interiors. The surface is brushed to bring out the natural grain and texture of the oak, adding depth and character, while the lacquered finish seals and protects the surface, giving it a smooth, low-sheen appearance that enhances durability without compromising on the natural beauty of the wood.

The universal grading ensures that every floor installation is unique, with a perfect balance of clean and characterful boards. You’ll find a blend of natural knots, colour variations, and areas of sapwood, showcasing the organic charm of oak in all its glory. This thoughtful mix of grades gives the floor a natural, lived-in appeal while maintaining a refined, consistent look that suits both traditional and modern spaces.

Built for beauty and performance, this 14mm multi-layered engineered floor offers outstanding stability and longevity. Unlike solid oak, engineered flooring is designed to handle Ireland’s varying climate, resisting the expansion and contraction that comes with changes in humidity and temperature. This makes Monolam Oak Taupe an ideal choice for homes across Ireland — a floor that looks stunning while standing the test of time.

Installation is simple and flexible. Monolam Oak Taupe can be glued directly to the subfloor for a solid, permanent installation, or floated using a tongue and groove system for quicker fitting. Both methods deliver a flawless, seamless finish that enhances the natural grain and tone of the wood, while providing a stable, luxurious feel underfoot.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Monolam Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
