1. Does the "Weathered" finish make the floor look dusty or dull? Not at all. The "weathered" aspect refers to the depth of the wood grain and the realistic colour variation. The planks feature a sophisticated matte finish that reflects light naturally, giving the floor a healthy, organic glow while being exceptionally good at hiding daily dust and pet hair.
2. Can I install "Weathered Spotted Gum" over my existing floorboards? Yes. Thanks to the rigid K-Core® technology and the 6.5mm thickness, these planks are designed to be installed directly over most existing hard floors, including floorboards. The rigid core "bridges" the gaps between boards, preventing the "bouncing" or joint-clicking often associated with thinner vinyl floors.
3. Is this floor suitable for high-sunlight areas like Irish sunrooms? Yes, Palio Express by Karndean Korlok is specifically designed with high-density materials that offer excellent dimensional stability. While we always recommend using blinds in direct, intense sunlight, this SPC floor is far less likely to expand or contract than traditional flexible LVT, making it a reliable choice for bright extensions.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Palio Express by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
