1. Is "Mezzo Perla" more slip-resistant than traditional polished terrazzo? Yes. Real terrazzo can be notoriously slippery when wet. Mezzo Perla is designed with a textured K-Guard+ surface that provides much better traction underfoot. This makes it a much safer, practical choice for Irish bathrooms and kitchens where spills are common.
2. Can Mezzo Perla be installed over my existing ceramic kitchen tiles? Absolutely. Thanks to the rigid K-Core® technology and the 6.5mm thickness, Mezzo Perla can be installed directly over most existing hard floors. It bridges minor grout lines and subfloor dips that would cause thinner vinyls to fail, saving you the mess of a full floor "rip-out."
3. Does the grey "concrete-effect" background show dust and pet hair easily? Mezzo Perla is actually one of the most forgiving colours in the range. The "terrazzo" chip pattern is excellent at masking light dust, pet hair, and dried water spots, making it a fantastic low-maintenance option compared to solid-coloured dark grey tiles.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Palio Express by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
