Product Description

Embrace the Serenity of the Shore with Korlok Tile Coastal Fog

If you are looking to capture the muted, ethereal beauty of the Irish coastline within your home, Korlok Tile Coastal Fog from the Palio Express by Karndean range is a masterclass in neutral design. This 6.5mm thick LVT features a stunning “greige” palette—a perfect harmony of cool grey and warm tawny beige—mimicking the natural variation of weathered slate. It is the ideal foundation for homeowners who want a bright, airy aesthetic that remains grounded and organic.

The Superior Stability of SPC Floors in the Irish Climate

In Ireland, the damp weather and fluctuating temperatures can wreak havoc on traditional flooring materials. SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) floors are specifically engineered to combat these issues. Korlok Coastal Fog is built with a high-density rigid core that provides world-class dimensional stability.

Unlike real stone, which can be brittle and prone to cracking, this is a 100% waterproof floor that is remarkably resilient. It won’t swell in a humid bathroom or warp in a sun-drenched conservatory. While many customers often compare this range to Coretec flooring, Karndean’s Korlok series is uniquely celebrated for its hyper-realistic textures and the inclusion of InteGrout™—realistic, non-porous grout lines that are permanently attached to the tiles, ensuring they never discolour or harbour mould.

Peace and Quiet with Integrated Rubber Underlay

One of the most practical luxuries of the Korlok collection is the pre-attached acoustic rubber underlay. For busy Irish households, this feature is a game-changer:

  • Exceptional Sound Reduction: It reduces noise transfer to rooms below by a massive 21dB, making it perfect for apartment living or upstairs bathrooms.
  • Warmer Underfoot: Unlike real slate or ceramic, which pulls heat away from your body, the rubber and vinyl construction acts as a thermal buffer, keeping the surface comfortable even on frosty mornings.

  • Seamless Installation: The rigid core allows for installation over most existing hard floors (like old ceramic tiles or floorboards), significantly reducing subfloor preparation time.

Ask a Question

1. Does the "Coastal Fog" colour show up muddy paw prints or water spots? Coastal Fog is perhaps one of the most practical colours in the range. The "greige" slate visual features a natural, dappled texture that is exceptionally good at masking light dust, dried water spots, and the occasional muddy footprint. This makes it a top-tier choice for high-traffic Irish hallways and utility rooms.

2. Is the "InteGrout" on these tiles difficult to clean compared to standard LVT? Actually, it’s much easier! Traditional tile grout is porous and traps dirt, but the InteGrout on Coastal Fog is completely non-porous and flush with the tile surface. You get the authentic look of a grouted stone floor without the need for scrubbing or bleaching; a quick damp mop is all that is required.

3. Can I install "Coastal Fog" in a room with a large stove or fireplace? Yes, Korlok is thermally stable and perfectly compatible with the ambient heat of a living room. However, like all LVT and SPC floors, it should not be used as a direct hearth. As long as you maintain the standard clearance for your stove and use a non-combustible hearth plate, Coastal Fog will perform beautifully and remain dimensionally stable.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Palio Express by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
