Product Description

Capture Rustic Heritage with Korlok Reclaimed French Oak

For those who desire the soul and character of a 17th-century chateau without the structural headaches of ancient timber, Korlok Reclaimed French Oak from the Palio Express by Karndean range is a design masterpiece. This 6.5mm thick LVT features a rich, dark greyish-brown palette that has been “bleach-washed” to highlight the organic knots, cracks, and historical markings of the original wood. It provides a stunning, modern-rustic foundation that brings instant warmth and “lived-in” charm to any Irish home.

The Ultimate SPC Floor for Busy Irish Households

In Ireland, our floors are the frontline against everything from damp Atlantic weather to the high-traffic chaos of family life. Reclaimed French Oak is a high-performance SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) floor, featuring Karndean’s revolutionary K-Core® technology. This rigid core construction ensures the planks remain dimensionally stable, meaning they won’t warp or swell in the humid conditions of a kitchen or the fluctuating temperatures of a conservatory.

As a 100% waterproof floor, it allows you to enjoy a rustic wood aesthetic in areas where real oak would fail, such as bathrooms and utility rooms. While many homeowners compare this range to Coretec flooring, the Korlok series is uniquely praised for its 5G® click-locking system. This allows for a rapid, “drop-and-lock” installation that is 30% faster than traditional vinyl, making it the perfect choice for a stress-free renovation.

Silence and Stability with Integrated Rubber Underlay

One of the most practical features of the Palio Express collection is the pre-attached acoustic rubber underlay. This integrated backing is a game-changer for Irish properties:

  • Superior Sound Reduction: It reduces noise transfer to rooms below by 21dB—perfect for upstairs bedrooms or “upside-down” houses.
  • Warmth Underfoot: Unlike real wood or stone, the rubber backing acts as a thermal barrier, keeping the floor feeling snug and comfortable on cold winter mornings.
  • Forgiving Installation: The rigid core allows for installation directly over most existing hard floors, such as ceramic tiles or floorboards, bridging minor imperfections and reducing subfloor prep time.

Ask a Question

1. Does the "rustic" texture of Reclaimed French Oak make it harder to clean? Not at all. While the planks feature a realistic, matte-textured finish, the surface is treated with K-Guard+ PU technology. This provides a non-porous, hygienic barrier that prevents dirt and grime from "sinking" into the grain. A simple sweep and a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner are all you need to keep it looking pristine.

2. Is the "6.5mm" thickness robust enough for heavy kitchen furniture? Absolutely. The strength of an SPC floor comes from the density of its core, not just its height. The K-Core® in Korlok is incredibly dense and provides superior indentation resistance, making it perfectly suited for heavy kitchen islands, dining tables, and high-footfall areas.

3. Can I install this floor over an old wooden subfloor with minor gaps? Yes. One of the greatest benefits of the Korlok rigid core is its "bridge-ability." It is designed to be installed over most existing hard surfaces. The 6.5mm thickness and rigid spine prevent the planks from "dipping" into minor gaps or telegraphing the texture of the floor beneath, which is a common issue with thinner, flexible LVT.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Palio Express by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
