1. Does the light "Oyster" colour show up muddy paw prints easily? Oyster Oak features a very subtle, hand-brushed texture and a multi-tonal grain. This organic detail is surprisingly effective at diffusing light and masking light dust or dried water spots, making it a much more practical choice for an Irish hallway than a solid, flat-coloured floor.
2. Can I install Korlok Oyster Oak over my existing underfloor heating? Absolutely. Oyster Oak is fully compatible with most water-based underfloor heating systems (up to 27°C). The combination of the SPC core and the integrated rubber underlay allows heat to transfer efficiently and evenly across the floor, ensuring your home stays cosy all year round.
3. Is the "6.5mm" thickness enough to hide an uneven subfloor? Yes. The "Rigid Core" technology in the Korlok range is specifically designed to bridge minor imperfections in a subfloor that would "telegraph" through thinner, flexible vinyl. It can be laid over most hard surfaces, including existing tiles, provided they are secure and relatively level.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Palio Rigid by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
