Classical Grandeur Meets Modern Innovation: Korlok Herringbone Brunella Marble
For those who dream of the opulent aesthetic of a Venetian villa but require the rugged practicality of a modern Irish home, Korlok Herringbone Brunella Marble from the Palio Express by Karndean range is the ultimate floor. This 6.5mm thick LVT masterfully replicates the intricate veining and soft, pearlescent tones of premium Italian marble. However, unlike traditional stone tiles, this floor is laid in a sophisticated herringbone pattern, adding a layer of architectural interest and “designer” flair to any hallway, bathroom, or kitchen.
The Next Generation of SPC Floors for Irish Living
In Ireland, our floors face unique challenges—from the damp Atlantic air to the high-traffic demands of a busy family household. Brunella Marble is a high-performance SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) floor, featuring a rigid core that provides world-class dimensional stability. This means your floor won’t warp, swell, or “peak,” even when exposed to the humidity of a bathroom or the fluctuating temperatures of a sun-drenched conservatory.
As a 100% waterproof floor, it allows you to enjoy the prestige of marble in moisture-heavy areas where real stone would be porous and difficult to maintain. While many homeowners compare this range to Coretec flooring, the Palio Express collection is uniquely celebrated for its 5G® click-locking system. This allows for a rapid, secure installation, making herringbone floors—historically a complex and expensive job—accessible and cost-effective for every Irish renovation.
Acoustic Peace with Integrated Rubber Underlay
One of the most innovative features of the Korlok range is the pre-attached acoustic rubber underlay. This integrated layer is a massive advantage for modern living:
- Superior Sound Reduction: It reduces noise transfer to rooms below by 21dB—ideal for apartments or upstairs renovations.
- Thermal Comfort: Unlike real marble, which acts as a “heatsink” and feels icy to the touch, the rubber backing acts as a thermal barrier, keeping the floor snug and comfortable.
- Effortless Installation: The rigid core allows for installation directly over most existing hard floors, such as ceramic tiles or floorboards, significantly reducing subfloor preparation time.

Ask a Question
1. Is the "Herringbone" pattern difficult to install compared to standard planks? While traditional herringbone requires a professional to glue down individual pieces, the Korlok Herringbone range uses a click-locking system. This makes it significantly faster and easier to lay. However, because of the geometric pattern, we do recommend a slightly higher "wastage" allowance (typically 10-15%) to ensure the borders are perfectly balanced.
2. Does "Brunella Marble" have a slippery surface when wet? Unlike polished marble tiles, which can be treacherous in a bathroom, Karndean LVT is designed with a slip-resistant textured surface. It provides much better grip underfoot while remaining exceptionally easy to clean with a damp microfibre mop.
3. Can I use a steam mop on my marble-effect SPC floor? We strongly advise against using steam mops. The intense, concentrated heat can potentially damage the adhesive bond of the wear layer over time. Because the surface is non-porous and treated with K-Guard+ protection, a pH-neutral cleaner is all you need to keep the "marble" sparkling.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
he cleaning and maintenance of our Palio Express by Karndean Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
