Product Description

Bring a touch of timeless elegance and modern sophistication into your home with Darwin Oak Herringbone, a stunning engineered herringbone floor that beautifully blends craftsmanship, texture, and natural charm. Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring, herringbone floors, and hardwood floors, this luxurious 18mm oak herringbone showcases a smoked and white matt lacquered finish that adds depth, warmth, and refined style to any interior.

Each block of Darwin Oak Herringbone is carefully smoked to draw out the natural richness of the oak, creating a beautifully balanced tone that combines soft greys, gentle browns, and natural oak highlights. The process enhances the grain detail and gives the wood a warm, mellow undertone that feels both contemporary and timeless. It is then finished with a delicate white matt lacquer, which softens the overall appearance, giving it a clean, sophisticated look while protecting the surface from daily wear. The lacquer provides a durable, low-sheen coating that preserves the natural texture of the wood while maintaining a beautifully smooth and elegant feel underfoot.

The rustic A/nature grading of Darwin Oak Herringbone strikes the perfect harmony between natural character and refined simplicity. With fewer knots and subtle colour variation, each board reflects the authentic beauty of real oak while maintaining a sleek, cohesive appearance. Touches of sapwood add lightness and dimension, ensuring each floor is full of individuality and life. The classic herringbone pattern enhances this natural variation, creating a sense of movement and sophistication that instantly transforms any space — from contemporary apartments to heritage-style homes.

Crafted for durability as well as beauty, this 18mm multi-layered engineered floor offers exceptional stability and strength. Unlike solid wood, engineered flooring is designed to handle the effects of humidity and temperature changes — perfect for the Irish climate. Its layered construction prevents warping or movement, ensuring a long-lasting, secure fit that retains its stunning appearance for years.

For the best installation results, Darwin Oak Herringbone must be glued directly to the subfloor. This method ensures a solid, stable structure that perfectly aligns the intricate herringbone pattern and enhances the floor’s luxurious finish. Once installed, it exudes quality and craftsmanship in every detail.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Kinnitty Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
