Product Description

Capture Rugged Elegance with King Floor Plus Viking Oak

If you are looking to ground your home with a floor that feels both ancient and contemporary, the King Floor Plus Viking Oak is an architectural masterpiece. This stunning golden oak laminate is designed for those who appreciate the raw, unrefined beauty of nature, featuring authentic-looking knots and grain patterns that mirror the character of century-old timber. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring by providing homeowners with products that deliver high-end luxury alongside uncompromising structural integrity.

Viking Oak is a jewel in the crown of the Kronopol flooring collection. As part of the prestigious Swiss Krono Group, it utilizes a grand long and wide board format (). These oversized planks are a favorite in Irish home renovations because they significantly reduce the number of visible joints, creating a seamless, expansive aesthetic that makes even standard-sized rooms feel grand and open.

Commercial-Grade Resilience: AC6 and Aqua Stop Technology

While its golden tones and natural knots suggest a delicate wood finish, the engineering behind Viking Oak is purely industrial. This floor is built to survive the “chaos” of a busy household or a high-traffic commercial space without flinching.

  • AC6 Abrasion Rating: This is the highest durability classification available. While most premium floors stop at AC5, Viking Oak’s AC6 rating ensures maximum resistance against pet claws, heavy furniture, and the constant footfall of a busy family home.
  • 24-Hour Water Resistance: We know that life in Ireland involves a fair share of moisture. This range features a high-density, water-resistant core that resists swelling from surface spills for up to 24 hours, making it a reliable and beautiful choice for kitchens and hallways.
  • 12mm Thickness: The substantial depth of this board provides a rock-solid feel underfoot. It eliminates the hollow “clacking” sound of thinner laminates and offers superior stability when paired with underfloor heating.

Ask a Question

1. Do the "Natural Knots" make the floor harder to clean? Not at all. While the knots look incredibly realistic and feel textured to the touch, they are part of a fully sealed, non-porous wear layer. Unlike real wood where knots can sometimes trap dirt or require oiling, Viking Oak remains completely smooth at a microscopic level, requiring only a simple damp mop to stay pristine.

2. How do the "Long & Wide" planks handle uneven Irish subfloors? Because Viking Oak is a 12mm high-density board, it is much more rigid than standard 8mm laminate. This rigidity, combined with the longer plank length (), allows the floor to "bridge" minor subfloor imperfections more effectively, providing a flatter, more stable finish than thinner, more flexible alternatives.

3. Will the "Golden Oak" tone darken significantly over time? One of the major benefits of Swiss Krono laminateover real oak is UV stability. While real timber will naturally darken or "amber" when exposed to sunlight, Viking Oak is engineered with a UV-resistant top layer. This ensures that the warm, golden glow you fall in love with today will remain the exact same shade for decades to come.

Recommended Underlay

The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate flooring is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
