1. Does the "Light Oak" tone of Galaxy Oak help with low-light rooms? Absolutely. Galaxy Oak is specifically designed to act as a "light reflector." In north-facing rooms or hallways with limited natural light, the pale oak tones help bounce ambient light around the space, making the room feel significantly brighter and more open than it would with a mid-toned or dark floor.
2. How do the "Long & Wide" planks affect installation waste? Because the planks are significantly larger (in length), they are ideal for large, open-plan areas where they can truly "stretch out." However, we recommend allowing for roughly 10% waste for these boards, as the larger format can lead to slightly more offcuts when fitting around intricate corners or narrow doorways compared to standard-sized boards.
3. Why is an AC6 rating better for open-plan kitchen/living areas? In open-plan spaces, you often have a "high-traffic track" where people walk between the fridge, the sofa, and the hallway. Over time, lower-rated floors can develop a "dull path" in these areas. An AC6 rating ensures the wear layer remains consistent across the entire floor, preventing localised wear and keeping the floor looking brand new for decades.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate flooring is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
