Redefine Your Home with King Floor Masala Oak
If you are searching for a floor that perfectly captures the “greige” design trend—the ideal middle ground between warm beige and cool grey—the King Floor Masala Oak (D4909) is a masterclass in modern neutrality. At Floorstore Direct, we have solidified our status as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring by offering products that balance sophisticated European aesthetics with the ruggedness required for a busy household.
Masala Oak is a standout within the premium King Floor range by Kronopol. Unlike standard laminates that can feel thin or hollow, this board boasts a substantial 12mm thickness. This extra depth provides a rock-solid feel underfoot and a superior acoustic profile, effectively mimicking the weight and sound of real solid wood. It is the ultimate choice for Scandinavian-inspired interiors, minimalistic apartments, or any Irish home looking for a bright, contemporary foundation.
High-Performance Engineering: AC5 Durability & Water Resistance
The beauty of Kronopol flooring lies in its “over-engineered” approach to daily life. As a key brand within the global Swiss Krono Group, Kronopol utilizes precision manufacturing to ensure every plank is as tough as it is beautiful.
- AC5 Abrasion Rating: This is the highest durability grade available for laminate flooring. Certified for heavy commercial use, Masala Oak is virtually immune to scratches from pets, high heels, and moving furniture.
- Integrated Water Resistance: Life is messy, but your floor doesn’t have to be. This range features a high-density, water-resistant core that resists moisture swelling, making it a reliable and stylish choice for kitchens, hallways, and open-plan living areas.
- V-Groove Painted Edges: The planks feature a 4-sided V-groove with edges painted black, creating a highly defined “plank effect” that adds architectural depth and prevents the floor from looking like a flat, continuous sheet.

Ask a Question
1. Does the "Greige" tone of Masala Oak work in low-light rooms? Actually, Masala Oak is one of the best choices for darker rooms. Because it balances warm and cool pigments, it doesn't "turn grey" or look cold in northern-facing light; instead, it reflects ambient light to make the space feel larger and airier.
2. Why is the V-Groove edge painted black on this specific floor? The black-painted bevel is a deliberate design choice to frame the "greige" planks. This contrast prevents the floor from looking artificial in large areas, giving it the authentic look of high-end, hand-finished timber while highlighting the individual layout of each board.
3. Can Masala Oak be used to create a seamless level with existing tiles? Yes! Because this is a 12mm thick board, when paired with a standard high-quality underlay, it sits at a total height of roughly 14–15mm. This matches the standard height of a ceramic tile plus adhesive, allowing you to avoid awkward "steps" or bulky transition strips between your kitchen and living room.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
