Sophisticated Scandi Style with King Floor Mario
If you are looking to infuse your home with the airy, sophisticated feel of a Nordic retreat, the King Floor Mario Oak(D4908) is your perfect match. This stunning light-coloured laminate floor offers a crisp, clean aesthetic that maximizes natural light, making even the smallest rooms feel expansive and modern. At Floorstore Direct, we have built our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring because we understand that Irish homes need a balance of high-end style and everyday resilience.
The Mario Oak is part of the premium King Floor range by Kronopol, a brand synonymous with European precision.Unlike standard, thin laminates, this board boasts a substantial 12mm thickness. This added depth doesn’t just provide a more solid, “real wood” feel underfoot; it also offers superior sound absorption and better stability over time. It’s the ultimate foundation for minimalist, Scandinavian, or contemporary Irish interiors.
Commercial-Grade Durability: AC5 & Kronopol Engineering
The beauty of Kronopol flooring is that it is built to last a lifetime. As a key brand within the world-renowned Swiss Krono Group, Kronopol utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure every plank can handle the chaos of a busy household.
- AC5 Abrasion Rating: This is the highest durability rating available. Certified for heavy commercial use, Mario Oak remains impervious to scratches from pets, high heels, and the movement of heavy furniture.
- Integrated Water Resistance: Modern life involves spills, but this water-resistant laminate floor is engineered with a high-density core that resists moisture. It’s an ideal, low-maintenance alternative to real wood for kitchens and utility rooms.
- Express Click System: Installation is a breeze thanks to the precision-engineered click profile. Whether you are a DIY enthusiast or a professional, you can achieve a seamless, gap-free finish in record time.

Ask a Question
1. Does the light oak colour of Mario Oak show pet hair and dust easily? Actually, light oak grains like Mario are excellent at camouflaging dust and light-coloured pet hair compared to darker, high-gloss floors. The extra-matt finish and natural texture mean you won't be reaching for the vacuum every time the sun shines through the window.
2. Why is a 12mm board recommended for matching floor heights in renovations? In many Irish renovations, you are transitioning from a 12mm tile or an older solid wood floor. An 8mm laminate often leaves an awkward "step" or trip hazard. By using the 12mm King Floor with a standard underlay, you achieve a near-perfect level transition to other rooms, often eliminating the need for bulky reducer strips.
3. Is the Mario Oak finish too "yellow" for a grey-toned modern house? Mario Oak is specifically designed with a neutral, "cool" oak palette. It lacks the heavy orange or yellow undertones found in traditional oaks, making it the perfect "bridge" floor that works beautifully with modern grey walls, navy cabinetry, or industrial black accents.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
