Timeless Natural Beauty with King Floor Livorno
Creating a space that feels bright, open, and naturally warm starts from the ground up. The King Floor Livorno Oak(D3033) is a masterclass in organic design, offering a crisp, natural oak colour that perfectly captures the essence of Scandinavian and minimalistic interiors. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring by providing a curated selection of floors that combine aesthetic prestige with the ruggedness required for a busy Irish home.
Livorno Oak is a standout within the Kronopol flooring collection. While many standard laminates feel thin or lightweight, this 12mm thick board is the sturdiest in the range. This extra thickness provides a rock-solid feel underfoot, effectively mimicking the acoustic profile and weight of real solid wood. Whether you are revitalizing a sun-drenched kitchen or looking to add a sense of calm to a modern living room, the delicate wood texture of Livorno Oak provides the ultimate foundation.
High-Performance Engineering: AC5 & Water Resistance
The beauty of Swiss Krono flooring is its “over-engineered” approach to daily life. As part of the premium Platinium range from Kronopol, Livorno is built to handle the chaos of a modern household without losing its luster.
- AC5 Abrasion Rating: This is the highest durability grade available. Certified for heavy commercial use, it is virtually impervious to scratches from pets, high-traffic footfall, and the movement of heavy furniture.
- Integrated Water Resistance: Modern life involves spills, but this range features a high-density, water-resistant core. This prevents the boards from swelling, making it a reliable and beautiful choice for kitchens and hallways where moisture is a concern.
- Perfect for Renovations: At 12mm thick, Livorno is the ideal laminate for matching heights with existing tiles or carpets during a renovation, ensuring a seamless flow between rooms.

Ask a Question
1. Does the 12mm thickness affect underfloor heating performance? While a 12mm board is thicker than standard laminate, it is specifically engineered for thermal conductivity. It might take a few extra minutes to reach peak temperature compared to an 8mm board, but its higher density allows it to retain and radiate heat more consistently, providing a more stable and comfortable warmth throughout the room.
2. How does the "Natural Oak" finish of Livorno handle UV light? In bright, south-facing Irish sunrooms, many floors can fade over time. However, Livorno features a high-performance UV-resistant top layer. This ensures that the crisp, natural oak tones remain vibrant and consistent, even in areas with high sun exposure, preventing the "yellowing" often seen in lower-quality laminates.
3. Why is this specific 12mm board recommended for "matching heights"? During a renovation, most people find that their kitchen tiles (including adhesive) sit at roughly 13–15mm high. An 8mm laminate often leaves a clumsy "step" or trip hazard. By using the 12mm Livorno paired with a high-quality 2mm or 3mm underlay, you can achieve a perfectly level transition between your wood floor and tiled surfaces without the need for unsightly sloped profiles.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
