Product Description

Transform Your Space with King Floor Leonardo

There is a profound elegance in a floor that tells a story. The King Floor Leonardo Oak (D4911) is a masterclass in character, offering a deep, smoked aesthetic combined with a rugged rustic grain that commands attention. At Floorstore Direct, we have solidified our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring by providing homeowners with products that bridge the gap between high-end artisan design and modern structural technology.

Leonardo Oak is a standout within the Kronopol flooring collection. While standard laminates can often feel lightweight, this 12mm thick board provides a substantial, “real wood” feel underfoot. The smoked finish creates a sophisticated, multi-dimensional colour profile—think deep chocolate browns, charcoal undertones, and warm amber highlights. It is the ideal foundation for a grand living room, a professional home office, or any space where you want to make a bold, architectural statement.

Precision Engineering: AC5 Durability & Water Resistance

The beauty of Swiss Krono flooring is its “over-engineered” approach to daily life. As a key brand within the global Swiss Krono Group, Kronopol utilizes advanced European manufacturing to ensure every plank is as tough as it is beautiful.

  • AC5 Abrasion Rating: This is the highest durability grade available for laminate flooring. Leonardo Oak is certified for heavy commercial use, meaning it is virtually immune to scratches from pets, high-traffic footfall, and moving furniture.
  • 72-Hour Water Resistance: We know that life in Ireland involves a fair share of moisture. This range features an integrated water-resistant core that prevents swelling and warping from surface spills, making it a reliable choice for kitchens and hallways.

  • 12mm Density: The added thickness doesn’t just improve the sound profile; it makes the floor incredibly stable over long spans and much more forgiving of minor subfloor imperfections.

Ask a Question

1. Does the "Smoked" finish make a room feel darker? While Leonardo Oak has a deep colour profile, its "Smoked" nature actually creates a high-contrast grain. When paired with light-coloured walls or reflective furniture, the floor provides a "visual anchor" that makes a room feel more grounded and expensive rather than simply "dark."

2. Is 12mm thickness better for sound than 8mm? Yes, significantly. The 12mm HDF core provides much better acoustic insulation. It reduces the "hollow" tapping sound common with thinner laminates, giving you a quieter home environment that sounds much closer to solid timber when walked upon.

3. Can Leonardo Oak be installed over existing tiles? Yes, provided the tiles are flat and secure. Because Leonardo is a 12mm board, it has the structural rigidity to span minor grout lines without "telegraphing" the pattern through to the surface. Just be sure to use a high-quality underlay to manage any minor level changes.

Recommended Underlay

The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
