Product Description
Authentic Rustic Charm with King Floor Klara
There is something uniquely comforting about a rustic oak floor—the way it grounds a room with a sense of history and warmth. The King Floor Klara Oak (D4916) is a masterclass in this aesthetic, offering a rich, multi-toned palette that mimics the complex character of aged timber. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring by focusing on products that offer the prestige of real wood without the high-maintenance upkeep.
The Klara Oak is a standout within the Kronopol flooring range. While many laminates on the market feel thin, this 12mm thick board provides a solid, substantial feel underfoot that mirrors the acoustic profile and weight of real solid oak. Its rustic colour profile features a beautiful interplay of deeper grains and lighter highlights, making it the perfect foundation for a cozy living room, a busy farmhouse kitchen, or a modern office seeking a touch of organic texture.
Unmatched Resilience: AC5 and Swiss Krono Engineering
The beauty of Swiss Krono flooring is its “over-engineered” construction. As a flagship range from Kronopol, the King Floor series is built to withstand the rigours of everyday life in an Irish household.
- AC5 Abrasion Rating: This is the highest durability classification available for laminate flooring. Certified for heavy commercial use, Klara Oak is virtually impervious to scratches from pets, the scuffing of high heels, and the movement of heavy furniture.
- Innovative Water Resistance: Designed for modern living, this floor features a high-density, water-resistant core. This prevents the edges from swelling after spills, making it a practical and beautiful choice for kitchens and hallways where traditional wood might struggle.
- G5 Express Click System: Time is precious. The precision click system allows for a swift, gap-free installation. It’s a favorite among professional fitters for its reliability and ease of use.

Ask a Question
1. Does the 12mm thickness affect my existing door clearances? Because Klara Oak is a thicker 12mm board, you should measure your door clearances before installation. While the thickness provides superior stability and sound insulation, you may need to trim the bottom of your doors slightly if you are replacing a thinner 7mm or 8mm laminate to ensure they swing freely over the new surface.
2. How does the "Rustic" finish of Klara Oak hide daily wear? The rustic grading is actually a major practical benefit. Unlike very clean or uniform floors that show every speck of dust, Klara Oak’s varied grain patterns and natural "flaws" act as a built-in camouflage. This makes it one of the most forgiving floors for homes with busy pets or children.
3. Can Klara Oak be used to match heights with tile? Yes! One of the biggest advantages of a 12mm Kronopol board is height matching. When paired with a standard underlay, it often sits at the exact same height as a ceramic tile (which is usually 10-12mm including adhesive). This allows for a much cleaner transition between a tiled hallway and a laminated living room without using a sloped reducer strip.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
