1. How does the 12mm thickness benefit a renovation with multiple floor types?
Most standard laminate floors are 8mm thick, which can create awkward "steps" or height differences when transitioning to tile or carpet. The 12mm thickness of Ferrara Oak makes it the ideal choice for matching the height of modern floor tiles (typically 10-12mm including adhesive). This often allows for a seamless transition between a kitchen and a living area without the need for bulky, sloped reducer strips.
2. What is the benefit of the "painted" V-groove on a light oak board?
The Ferrara Oak features a light Scandinavian colour palette, but its bevelled edges are painted. This is a deliberate design choice by Kronopol to:

Frame each plank: The dark contrast prevents the floor from looking like a flat, continuous sheet of plastic, giving it the defined "plank look" of high-end solid wood.

Hide dust buildup: In very light-coloured floors, the V-grooves can often show trapped dirt over time. The pre-painted bevel effectively camouflages these micro-particles, keeping the floor looking cleaner for longer.
3. Can Ferrara Oak be installed in a "floating" layout over existing wood floors?
Yes, and the 12mm thickness actually makes this safer than thinner laminates. Because Ferrara Oak is a 12mm high-density board, it is less likely to "telegraph" or mirror small bumps or imperfections from the old floorboards beneath it.
However, you must ensure the old boards are secure and flat. If you are laying it over a wooden subfloor, you should avoid using a damp-proof membrane (DPM) and instead use a breathable underlay to prevent moisture from being trapped in the timber below.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
