Product Description

Bring Comfort Home with King Floor Dublin Oak

Finding the perfect balance between a cozy aesthetic and rugged durability is the holy grail of home renovation. The King Floor Dublin Oak (D2592) is a masterclass in this balance, offering a rich, warm oak colour that breathes life into any interior. At Floorstore Direct, we have established ourselves as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring because we provide homeowners with surfaces that don’t just look like real wood—they feel like it, too.

The Dublin Oak is a standout within the Kronopol flooring collection. Unlike thinner, standard laminates, this board features a substantial 12mm thickness. This added depth provides a rock-solid feel underfoot and acts as a natural sound barrier, making it a favorite for busy Irish households. Whether you are aiming for a traditional farmhouse vibe or a modern “warm minimalist” look, the natural grain and deep tones of Dublin Oak provide a versatile, high-end foundation.

The Peak of Performance: AC5 and Kronopol Engineering

The beauty of Kronopol flooring is that it is built to survive the chaos of real life. As a premium range from Kronopol, the King Floor series is “over-engineered” to ensure your home stays beautiful for decades.

  • AC5 Abrasion Rating: This is the highest durability rating available for laminate flooring. Certified for heavy commercial use, it is virtually immune to scratches from pets, high heels, and moving furniture.
  • Superior Water Resistance: Modern families need floors that can handle the occasional spill. This range features a high-density, water-resistant core that resists swelling and warping, making it a reliable and stylish choice for kitchens, hallways, and open-plan living zones.
  • Express Click System: Time is a luxury. The precision-engineered click system allows for a swift, gap-free installation. It’s a “fitter’s favorite” that ensures a professional finish whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or a professional contractor.

Ask a Question

1. Does the 12mm thickness affect underfloor heating efficiency in Irish homes?

While the 12mm thickness of Dublin Oak is greater than standard 8mm boards, it is fully compatible with underfloor heating (UFH). However, because of the denser HDF core, it has a slightly higher thermal resistance of approximately .

This means it may take slightly longer to "warm up" compared to thinner floors, but once it reaches temperature, its mass allows it to retain heat more effectively, providing a more consistent thermal experience. Always ensure your UFH surface temperature does not exceed 27°C.

2. How does the "V-Groove" painted edge handle high-traffic hallways?

The King Floor Dublin Oak features a v-groove bevelled edge that is uniquely painted black to create a distinct plank effect. Unlike some laminates where the decor paper simply wraps over the edge, this painted bevel is specifically designed to:

  • Conceal micro-gaps: It hides the tiny seasonal movements (expansion/contraction) common in Ireland's humid climate.
  • Reduce edge-wear visibility: In high-traffic areas like a hallway, the dark paint prevents the light-coloured HDF core from showing through if the edges are subjected to heavy friction.

3. Is the "Express Click" system suitable for large, open-plan Dublin apartments?

Yes, the G5 Express Click system is ideal for large spans. However, for open-plan areas exceeding 8–10 meters in length or width, you must strictly adhere to expansion gap requirements.

In coastal or high-humidity areas (like Sandymount or Howth), we recommend a 15mm expansion gap instead of the standard 10mm. This ensures that the 12mm high-density boards have sufficient room to move without "tenting" or stressing the click joints during peak humidity months.

Recommended Underlay

The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
