Product Description

Brighten Your Home with King Floor Capricorn Oak

If you’re looking to infuse your home with the airy, sophisticated feel of a Nordic retreat, the King Floor Capricorn Oak(D4905) is your perfect match. This stunning light-coloured laminate floor offers a crisp, clean aesthetic that maximizes natural light, making even the smallest rooms feel expansive and modern. At Floorstore Direct, we have built our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered and laminate flooring because we understand that Irish homes need a balance of high-end style and everyday resilience.

The Capricorn Oak is part of the premium King Floor range by Kronopol, a brand synonymous with European precision.Unlike standard, thin laminates, this board boasts a substantial 12mm thickness. This added depth doesn’t just provide a more solid, “real wood” feel underfoot; it also offers superior sound absorption and better stability over time. It’s the ultimate foundation for minimalist, Scandinavian, or contemporary Irish interiors.

Commercial-Grade Durability: AC5 & Swiss Krono Engineering

The beauty of Kronopol flooring is that it is built to last a lifetime. As a key brand within the world-renowned Swiss Krono Group, Kronopol utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure every plank can handle the chaos of a busy household.

  • AC5 Abrasion Rating: This is the gold standard for durability. An AC5 rating means this floor is certified for heavy commercial use. Whether it’s the patter of pets, the scraping of dining chairs, or high-traffic hallways, Capricorn Oak remains impervious to scratches and wear.
  • Advanced Water Resistance: Modern life involves spills, but this water-resistant laminate floor is engineered with a high-density core that resists moisture swelling. It’s an ideal, low-maintenance alternative to real wood for kitchens, utility rooms, and busy family spaces.
  • Express Click System: Installation is a breeze thanks to the precision-engineered click profile. Whether you are a DIY enthusiast or a professional, you can achieve a seamless, gap-free finish in record time.

Ask a Question

1. Is 12mm laminate better than 8mm for sound? Yes, significantly. The 12mm thickness of the King Floor range acts as a natural acoustic barrier, reducing the "hollow" sound often associated with thinner laminates and providing a much quieter environment.

2. Can I install Capricorn Oak in a shop or office? Absolutely. Because it carries an AC5 rating, it is specifically designed to withstand the heavy foot traffic of commercial environments while maintaining its beautiful light oak finish.

3. Is this floor easy to clean? Extremely. The high-density surface is designed to repel dirt and stains. A simple sweep and an occasional damp mop with a laminate-friendly cleaner are all you need to keep it looking pristine.

Recommended Underlay

The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronopol laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
