Product Description

Classic Character: iCONIC Abernethy Herringbone 76mm

If you are aiming to infuse your home with timeless architectural charm, the iCONIC Abernethy Herringbone 76mm from J2 Flooring is an absolute masterpiece. Recreating the classic, small-format parquet style, this stunning floor features a warm, rich red oak tone that brings inviting warmth, character, and sophistication to any space. At Floorstore Direct, we have cemented our position as the best place in Ireland to buy LVT flooring and herringbone flooring by bringing premium European designs straight to your home.

The Abernethy Herringbone features individual planks measuring 228mm long by 76mm wide. This compact plank sizing creates a detailed, high-contrast parquet weave that makes entryways, hallways, and living spaces feel instantly grander and more expansive. As part of the prestigious iCONIC collection by J2 Flooring, it delivers the visual depth and artisan texture of genuine timber alongside the unyielding resilience of modern waterproof flooring.

Professional Precision: The Glue-Down Installation

Engineered to a slim 2.5mm thickness, this LVT herringbone utilizes a classic glue-down installation method. Adhering the tiles directly to the floor provides optimal thermal performance with underfloor heating, eliminates hollow sounds underfoot, and ensures total dimensional stability across expansive areas.

Achieving a flawless result with dry-back vinyl requires exact surface preparation. All subfloors must be clean, dry, and completely smooth before installing a glue down LVT. Because the 2.5mm profile bonds directly to the base, any dust, debris, or minor ridges will show through the finished floor. We always recommend applying a high-quality smoothing latex screed to ensure a mirror-flat foundation. Once installed, its 100% waterproof construction allows you to bring traditional vinyl flooring style into moisture-prone zones like kitchens, utility rooms, and bathrooms without fear of warping.

Ask a Question

1. Why is subfloor preparation so crucial for the 76mm Abernethy Herringbone LVT? Because glue-down LVT is thin and flexible, it mirrors the surface beneath it. Any dirt, gravel, or subfloor unevenness will compromise the bond and telegraph through the surface. Ensuring the subfloor is clean, dry, and perfectly smooth guarantees a seamless, long-lasting installation.

2. What are the visual benefits of a smaller 76mm x 228mm herringbone plank? Smaller parquet planks create a tighter, more intricate pattern repeat. This traditional scale works exceptionally well in Irish hallways, smaller living rooms, and open-plan spaces, drawing the eye across the room and creating an impression of greater depth and space.

3. Is Abernethy Red Oak Herringbone safe for bathrooms and kitchens? Yes! Unlike real timber herringbone which can warp or swell when exposed to water, this LVT herringbone is 100% waterproof. When properly glued down, spills and moisture wipe away effortlessly, giving you rich timber aesthetic with zero fuss.

Recommend Adhesive

LVT can shrink, expand, or lift under pressure if not properly bonded. Uzin KE66 is the adhesive we recommend as it is a fibre reinforced adhesive, which means it holds the tile firmly in place, preventing movement even in high-traffic areas or when exposed to temperature fluctuations. Please note all subfloors must be 100% clean, dry and level before LVT installation. Check out our adhesives, levelling compounds and primers here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Glue down LVT Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
