Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s number one destination for engineered flooring and herringbone floors, this 18mm rustic-grade oak herringbone provides the perfect blank canvas for homeowners, designers, and architects who want to achieve a truly personalised finish.
Each block of High 5 Herringbone Unfinished Oak arrives in its natural, raw state — ready to be finished onsite with either an oil or lacquer of your choice. This allows complete freedom to tailor your floor’s appearance, from soft, natural tones to deep, rich finishes. Whether you’re seeking a classic, hand-oiled look or a modern matt sheen, this unfinished oak herringbone gives you full control over the final colour, sheen, and texture. It’s the ideal solution for anyone looking to match an existing floor, design a bespoke look, or bring out the true beauty of natural oak.
The rustic grading of High 5 Herringbone Unfinished Oak highlights the natural characteristics that make real wood so special. Each block showcases knots, mineral streaks, grain variations, and subtle colour shifts, giving the floor genuine warmth and individuality. This organic variation creates a sense of depth and authenticity, making every installation unique. When finished, the result is a herringbone floor full of personality and timeless appeal — perfectly suited to both modern and traditional interiors.
Constructed with precision, this 18mm multi-layered engineered floor provides exceptional durability and stability. Unlike traditional solid wood flooring, engineered flooring is specifically designed to withstand the challenges of Ireland’s changing climate. Its layered structure resists expansion and contraction caused by fluctuations in humidity and temperature, ensuring your floor remains stable, smooth, and beautiful for years to come.
As a traditional herringbone design, High 5 Herringbone Unfinished Oak must be glued directly to the subfloor. This installation method ensures a secure, permanent fit and perfect alignment, allowing the intricate pattern to shine through. The herringbone layout adds texture, sophistication, and movement to your space, making it a timeless choice that elevates any home or commercial setting.

Recommend Adhesive
Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our High 5 Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
