Redefine Your Space with Krono Swiss Grand Selection Origin Snow
If you are looking to infuse your home with the clean, airy elegance of a Scandinavian winter, the Krono Swiss Grand Selection Origin Snow is the ultimate flooring solution. At Floorstore Direct, we have built a reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring because we curate only the highest-specification products that balance breathtaking aesthetics with unmatched durability.
The Origin Snow decor is a masterpiece of light-toned design. It features a soft, whitewashed oak appearance that opens up even the smallest rooms, reflecting natural light to create a bright and tranquil atmosphere. Thanks to the advanced “Embossed-in-Register” (EIR) finish, the surface texture is synchronized perfectly with the wood grain, ensuring that every knot and line feels exactly like authentic, rustic timber. It is the perfect foundation for a modern minimalist home or a chic, coastal-inspired interior.
Why the Origin 14mm Collection is a Game-Changer
What makes the Grand Selection Origin range a standout in the world of laminate wood flooring is its substantial physical profile. This is a heavy-duty floor designed for those who refuse to compromise on quality or performance.
- Massive 14mm Thickness: This extra-thick profile provides a solid, “solid-wood” feel underfoot. It offers superior acoustic insulation, eliminating the hollow “click” sound often associated with thinner floors and providing a sturdy, quiet environment.
- Extra Long & Wide Planks: At over 2 metres long and 244mm wide, these XXL panels create a high-end, expansive look. Fewer joints mean a more seamless aesthetic that flows beautifully through open-plan living areas.
- AC5 Commercial Grade Protection: Rated for the heaviest traffic, the Origin Snow is virtually “life-proof.” It is highly resistant to scratches, impact, and fading, making it a brilliant choice for busy Irish households with children and pets.
- 72-Hour Aquastop Technology: This water-resistant laminate can withstand standing water and spills for up to three days. It offers the beauty of wood in moisture-prone areas like kitchens and hallways without the typical maintenance stress.

Ask a Question
1. Is Origin Snow suitable for wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes, it is highly suitable for kitchens and standard domestic bathrooms. Thanks to its Aquastop technology and a low-swelling Q7-HDF core, this floor is designed to withstand topical moisture and everyday spills for up to 72 hours. While it isn't "waterproof" (it shouldn't be used in wet rooms or saunas), it offers twice the water resistance of conventional laminate, making it a worry-free choice for active Irish households.
2. Can I use this 14mm laminate with underfloor heating?
Absolutely. Grand Selection Origin Snow is fully compatible with both water-based (H2O) and electric underfloor heating systems. Despite its substantial 14mm thickness, it has an excellent thermal resistance of approximately 0.1 (m²*K)/W, which is well within the industry standard for efficient heat transfer. Just ensure the surface temperature does not exceed 27°C to maintain the floor’s integrity.
3. What is the benefit of the "Embossed-in-Register" (EIR) finish?
The EIR finish is what gives the Snow decor its incredibly authentic feel. Unlike standard laminates where the texture is random, the EIR process synchronizes the surface texture perfectly with the printed wood grain. This means when you see a knot or a grain line in the "Snow" pattern, you can actually feel it under your fingertips or feet, providing the true sensory experience of real, rustic whitewashed oak.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Krono Swiss laminate flooring is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
