Experience the Rustic Grandeur of Krono Swiss Grand Selection Origin Forest
There is something deeply grounding about the look of an ancient woodland. If you want to capture that raw, organic energy in your home, the Krono Swiss Grand Selection Origin Forest is the definitive choice. At Floorstore Direct, we have built our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring by offering exclusive, world-class ranges that perfectly suit the Irish lifestyle and climate.
The Origin Forest decor is a masterclass in rustic elegance. Featuring deep, earthy oak tones and authentic grain variations, it brings a grounded, natural warmth to any space. This floor is designed for those who appreciate the character of real hardwood—knots, swirls, and all—but require the resilience of high-end Swiss engineering. With its “Embossed-in-Register” (EIR) texture, the surface isn’t just a print; the texture matches the grain perfectly, providing a sensory experience that feels exactly like solid timber underfoot.
The Engineering of a Masterpiece: 14mm Origin
In the world of laminate wood flooring, the Grand Selection Origin collection stands in a category of its own. While standard boards often feel flimsy, this collection is engineered for those who demand the absolute best in structural integrity and visual impact.
- Substantial 14mm Thickness: This heavy-duty profile provides a solid, “real-wood” feel underfoot. It eliminates the hollow “click” sound often associated with thinner laminates, offering superior stability and acoustic comfort.
- Extra Long & Wide Planks: At over 2 metres long (2025mm) and 244mm wide, these XXL panels create a stunning, expansive look. Fewer joints mean a more seamless aesthetic that makes your rooms feel larger and more luxurious.
- AC5 Commercial Durability: Boasting the highest abrasion rating, this floor is effectively “life-proof.” It is highly resistant to scratches, impact, and heavy foot traffic, making it the ideal choice for busy Irish households with pets and children.
- 72-Hour Water Resistance: Equipped with advanced Aquastop technology, this water-resistant laminate can handle spills and moisture for up to three days, giving you total peace of mind in kitchens, hallways, and dining areas.

Ask a Question
1. Is Origin Forest suitable for kitchens and bathrooms? Yes! Thanks to its Aquastop technology, this floor is water-resistant for up to 72 hours. It is perfect for kitchens and hallways. While suitable for standard bathrooms, it should not be used in wet rooms or areas with standing water.
2. Can I install this floor over underfloor heating? Absolutely. Origin Forest is fully compatible with water-based underfloor heating systems. Its 14mm thickness provides excellent thermal stability and a premium feel while allowing heat to transfer efficiently.
3. What makes the "Forest" decor look so realistic? The realism comes from Embossed-in-Register (EIR) technology. The texture on the surface of the plank is synchronised with the wood grain image, so you can actually feel the knots and grain exactly where you see them.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Krono Swiss laminate flooring is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
