Product Description
Bring timeless European elegance into your home with the exquisite French Oak Tumbled Herringbone, available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s premier destination for solid floors, herringbone floors, and hardwood floors. This 18mm thick solid oak masterpiece is designed for those who appreciate authentic craftsmanship, heritage charm, and the enduring strength of real wood.
Crafted from premium French oak, this solid herringbone floor showcases the rich natural character that only genuine timber can provide. Each block is tumbled, giving it an aged, distressed appearance that evokes the timeless beauty of old-world parquet floors found in European manors and châteaus. The process enhances the rustic appeal—expect natural knots, markings, small cracks, and gentle surface undulations that together create a floor full of life and authenticity.
Supplied unfinished, this floor gives you the freedom to customise its final look. Whether you choose to finish it with a natural oil for a soft, organic sheen, or with a lacquer for a more resilient and refined surface, you can tailor the tone and texture to perfectly suit your interior. The versatility of unfinished French oak makes it ideal for both traditional and contemporary spaces, from period homes and urban apartments to boutique hotels and retail environments.
This 18mm thick solid oak herringbone must be glued directly to the subfloor, ensuring exceptional stability and longevity. Once installed, the distinctive herringbone pattern creates instant sophistication, drawing the eye and adding movement and texture to your space. The solid oak construction guarantees not only beauty but also durability—this floor can be sanded and refinished multiple times throughout its lifetime, allowing it to age gracefully and remain stunning for decades.
The tumbled edges and organic imperfections bring a sense of history and warmth that can’t be replicated by engineered alternatives. Each piece tells its own story through subtle grain variations, sunken knots, and the occasional surface split, making every installation truly unique. The result is a floor that feels as though it has always belonged—a timeless surface with genuine soul and presence.

Recommend Adhesive
Our Solid Floors must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. This is an unfinished floor so it must be finished on site with an oil or a lacquer. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions. All Solid Flooring must be left in the room for at least 2-3 weeks prior to installation to be allowed to acclimatise.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Solid Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
